Jordan Jayne Bags Chip Lead After Day 1a of Horseshoe Hammond Main Event

Day 1a of the $1,700 Horseshoe Hammond Main Event accumulated a total of 475 entries and at the end of the day after 15 levels of play just 95 remained.

Action was hot and heavy all day and the player who emerged as the chip leader was Jordan Jayne with 489,500. He was spotted around the middle part of the day with a large stack and just continued to add from there and ended the day in first place.

Also bagging large in 2nd was Davis Moses with 407,500, who had the chip lead for much of the day and was able to finish strong before being eclipsed only by Jayne.

Some other notables to survive to Day 2 with big stacks were Andrew Ostapchenko with 366,500, Michael Rossitto with 365,000 and Artem Zverkhovskyy who bagged 286,500.

The majority of players did not make it to the end of the day however and will have to attempt to make it though again tomorrow if they wish to make it to Day 2. Those of who include Michael Wang, Kelly Minkin, Alan Cutler, Nick Pupillo and Maurice Hawkins.

The 95 remaining will join those who survive on Day 1b, (which starts at noon local time Saturday) to return to the felt to battle on Day 2 at 11am on Sunday.

Matthew Dunn raised under-the-gun to 6,500 and the action folded to Jordan Jayne in the small blind who called, and the big blind called behind him.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and both Jayne and the big blind checked to Dunn who continued for 11,000 and only Jayne called.

The turn got checked through on the {5-Clubs} and on the {3-Diamonds} river Jayne fired out a bet of 13,500. Dunn took about five seconds before putting Jayne to the test with a raise to 50,000 and Jayne eventually mucked his hand.

Carey Flops Trips

Irene Carey raised in early position to 7,500 and the action folded around to the big blind who defended.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, the big blind checked to Carey who continued for 5,500 and the big blind quickly folded. Carey tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for trip aces.

Bazeley Sucks Out

After a series of raises Jake Bazeley found himself all-in and at risk agianst an early position raiser.

Bazeley was in a world of trouble for his entire stack but got lucky when the flop came {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} giving him top set and he faded the over-set when the board completed with the {9-Diamonds} on the turn and the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

Hendrix Flops Trips and Takes Heaps

The flop read {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Zach Nguyen bet 7,500. Adam Hendrix thought it over for a while, weighing his options before sticking a stack of chips into the middle for a raise to about 20,000. Nguyen moved all in and Hendrix snap called.
