Level 24 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Zack Mullenix
Zack Mullenix

Zack Mullennix opened early and Mark Koeln called in the small blind. On the turn, the board read {7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Spades} and Koeln bet 65,000. Mullennix called and Koeln checked the {2-Spades}. Mullennix bet 175,000 and Koeln snap-called but lost to {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}.

Another Dub for Mullennix Over Koeln

Level 24 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Mark Koeln opened in middle position for 60,000 and called the shove of Zack Mullennix, who had 430,000 in the cutoff.

Mullennix: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Koeln: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

"Gah, I was hoping you had that ace-king again," Koeln said.

The {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} gave Koeln some extra outs, but the {k-Clubs} was a blank on the river.

"Swapped Out" Do it for Caldwell

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Zack Mullennix opened for 40,000 second to act and called the shove of Scott Caldwell a couple of seats over.

Mullennix: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Caldwell: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Caldwell went from needing a jack to a king on the {q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, leading someone to comment on "swapped outs." The king arrived right away and Mullennix couldn't find a chop on the river.

Large Fold from Helstern

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

On a completed board of {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, Brett Apter bet 275,000 from the big blind into about 200,000. Jorden Helstern took some time then folded {a-}{k-} face up.

"That Was Probably the Weirdest Hand I've Ever Played"

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The floor was called to the final table and it seemed an odd situation had developed. Brett Apter hadn't acted, though he had 20,000 in front of him under the gun, and action had folded to big blind Steve Buell. The 20,000 was the big blind ante, though, and Apter had been thinking he was big blind. The supervisor ruled Apter could call or fold but do nothing aggressive. Apter opted to call and Buell checked.

Buell bet 30,000 on the {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop and 50,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn. Apter stuck around for the {4-Spades} river and Buell bet 60,000. Apter made it 140,000 and Buell tank-folded.

"That was probably the weirdest hand I've ever played," Apter said.

Mullennix Doubles Through Koeln

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Mark Koeln raised to 50,000 and called a shove from Zack Mullennix, who had 325,000 in the small blind.

Koeln: {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Mullennix: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Both players hit two pair, but kings and queens were good on the {3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts} board.

Ian Nelson Eliminated in 10th Place ($6,854)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Ian Nelson
Ian Nelson

Ian Nelson got a shove through on the button and showed pocket eights. Then, he shoved in the hijack for 270,000 and Brett Apter called on his left.

Apter: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Nelson: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Nelson was in trouble, and the {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds} board left Apter's kicker playing for the knockout.
