Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Stephen Nussrallah was in a preflop all in holding {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} of Nevin Ashe who had Nussrallah covered just barely.

The flop was good to Nussrallah as it came {2-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts} to send him into the lead The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river the {j-Hearts} to give Nussrallah the big double up and leave Ashe practically out the door with less than one big blind.

Izadi Extracts an Early Pot from Elkins

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The turned board showed {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and there was about 20,000 in the pot when Cain Elkins checked to Hamid Izadi who threw in 12,000.

Elkins check-called to see the {9-Spades} river card and once again tapped the table to Izadi who bet once more, putting 27,000 into the middle.

Elkins thought for a moment but ultimately called the bet and Izadi tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a rivered nine. Elkins mucked and Izadi pulled in the pot.

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action was picked up on the river as the board read {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Loc Nguyen made a bet of 25,000 into a pot of roughly the save size.

Matthew Kern looked at the bet for a couple of moments before tossing out a raise to 65,000 which Nguyen swiftly folded.

Kern turned over the {a-Spades}{4-Spades} and collected the pot.

Jackson Starts to Tango Early

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Will Givens opened to 10,000 from middle position, David Jackson called on the button and John Bamman three-bet to 22,000. Both Givens and Jackson called to see the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop.

Bamman led out for 20,000 and Givens folded to Jackson who moved all in. Bamman hesitated for a moment but in the end, he called for his 69,000 behind and the two tabled their hands with Bamman at risk.

John Bamman: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
David Jackson: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The board runout was {5-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Jackson's flopped queen pulled in the pot, sending Bamman out the door early in the day.

Chalifour Wins Flip vs Kelsall

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Chalifour was deep in the tank considering a decision for all of his relatively healthy stack. He had three-bet Andrew Kelsall's initial raise to 22,000 from the button and then Kelsall jammed all in when action came back to him.

Chalifour was tortured over the decision. Kelsall threatened to call the clock and after thirty more seconds did call it. The floor came over to count it down and at the last moment Chalifour pushed his chips forward to call.

Andrew Kelsall {a-}{k-}
Dave Chalifour {j-}{j-}

The board stayed safe for the jacks as it came {9-}{6-}{10-}{10-}{7-}. And Chalifour got a big double.

New Faces Lead Field of 242 on Loaded Day 2 of WSOPC Tampa Main Event

David Tuthill
David Tuthill

It is time for Day 2 of the WSOP Circuit Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Main Event to kick off at 12 p.m. Returning to battle on the felt will be 242 players who still remain. The top 175 will make the money, meaning that a little more than ¼ of the field still has to be trimmed before a payday can be reached.

Some of the players who will be looking to make it much deeper than the min cash are those at the top of the chip counts to start the day. A newcomer to the scene starts the day on top, as Isaac Kempton will be the start of day chip leader after bagging 500,000 on Day 1a. Kempton does not have a recorded cash on his poker resume thus far and will be looking to make a huge splash for his first one here in Tampa.

Another newcomer, Orville Story will be right on Kempton’s heels as the Day 1b chip leader brings 498,000 with him to the table today. Story has one modest cash on his poker resume so far and just like Kempton will be looking to spin his Day 1 success into a big result here today.

The top two chip counts are both good for about 125 big blinds at the start of the day level 16 blind level of 2,000/4,000. There is a drop off in chips after the top two as Aaron Gunn holds 474,000 in third place. David Tuthill is right behind that with 473,500 and Tyler Phillips rounds out the top five with 385,000.
