Battle of Minnesotans Goes to Vang

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ian Matakis jammed for 15,200 from middle position, and Kou Vang called in the cutoff.

Ian Matakis: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Kou Vang: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Matakis maintained his lead on the {q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop, but the {k-Diamonds} turn gave Vang the lead and left Matakis looking for an ace, jack or ten to survive. The {3-Clubs} river didn't do it, and Vang scored the elimination.

Fielder Bats .500

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Hand #1:

Jeff Fielder raised to 4,000 from the cutoff, and was called by Jeremy Brown in the big blind.

Brown checked the {6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop to Fielder, who bet 4,000. Brown folded.

Hand #2:

The very next hand, Fielder raised to 4,000 from the hijack, and only Andy Rogowski called in the big blind.

Rogowski check-called a 4,000 bet from Fielder on the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, and both players checked the {j-Clubs} turn. Rogowski bet 20,000 on the {k-Spades} river, and Fielder tanked for a minute before folding.

Baime Boats Up on Jansen

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Kenneth Baime
Kenneth Baime

Bradley Jansen checked a {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Spades} board from the cutoff, and Kenneth Baime bet 7,200 into a pot of 15,000 from the button. Jansen called.

Jansen checked again on the {7-Diamonds} river, and Baime bet 20,000, enough to set Jansen in for his last 19,800. Jansen tanked for a minute, then called, revealing {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, but his rockets were cracked by the {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Baime to send Jansen to the rail.

Siemienas Isn't Screwin' Around

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Craig Trost raised to 2,600 from the hijack, and was called by Gerald Siemienas on the button, as well as the player in the big blind.

The big blind checked an {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop over to Trost, who bet 2,500. Both Siemienas and the big blind called.

The {q-Hearts} turn was checked to Siemienas, who bet 15,000. Both of his opponents folded.

"No screwing around," Siemienas told the table, and Trost quipped, "Fair enough."

First to Worst to First For Wagner

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Larry Wagner
Larry Wagner

Aaron Johnson raised to 2,600 from middle position, and Larry Wagner three-bet shoved for 15,200 from the hijack. The small blind called, and Johnson folded.

Larry Wagner: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Wagner got a sweat when the {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop gave his opponent a flush draw, and the {j-Hearts} turn left Wagner looking for a queen or a non-club king to survive. The {k-Diamonds} river brought Wagner back in front with Broadway, and he doubled up.

Heath Springs a Check-Raise

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Roland Israelashvili raised to 3,000 from the cutoff, and was called by Spencer Alexander on the button, the small blind, and Gerald Heath in the big blind.

Action checked through the {q-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, and the {a-Diamonds} turn was checked over to Alexander, who bet 3,000. The small blind folded, and Heath check-raised to 12,000. Israelashvili folded, and Alexander followed suit a moment later.

Gallaher Loses a Flip

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Justin Brown raised to 3,000 from the hijack, and John Gallaher called in the small blind. Gary Herstein three-bet to 10,200 from the big blind, and Brown four-bet to 68,000, enough to cover Gallaher and Herstein. Gallaher called off his last 40,000, and Herstein folded, preserving his last 50,000.

John Gallaher: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Justin Brown: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Brown pulled ahead on the {4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, and no eight would fall on the {j-Hearts} turn or {2-Diamonds} river, sending Gallaher to the rail.

Bai Busts One

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

John Simon checked a {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop from the small blind, as did the player in the big blind. Richard Bai bet 2,200 from the hijack, and Simon called. The big blind check-raised all in for 5,700, Bai called and Simon folded.

Opponent: {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Richard Bai: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Bai's kicker proved best on a {k-Hearts} turn and {9-Diamonds} river to earn the knockout.
