Schafer Scores a Big Double

Level 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Arthur Schafer
Arthur Schafer

Li Chen pulled the trigger with a preflop shove and this time was instantly called by Arthur Schafer, who had more than the average at his disposal.

Arthur Schafer: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Li Chen: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop sent Schafer into a world of pain but he rejoiced on the {q-Hearts} turn. Schafer only had to fear a jack or ten but the {3-Hearts} on the river secured his double up for massive 349,000.

Ohl Wins Larger Pot Off Rolif

Level 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

In three-way action to the {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} turn with some 76,000 in the middle, Birger Ohl bet 22,000 and Eugen Rolif raised to 90,000. The third player in the hand folded and Ohl called. Both then checked the {8-Clubs} on the river as Rolif tabled the {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for a busted open-ender. Ohl had that beat with the {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to chip up once again.

Bump in the Road for Altinok

Level 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Mehmet Altinok
Mehmet Altinok

Mehmet Altinok bets 13,000 from under the gun and faced a raise of 32,000 from Zoran Dordevic. Altinok asked Dordevic how many chips he had behind. Dordevic moved the chips closer to his opponent so Altinok could count for himself. Altinok decided to call to see a flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Dordevic bet 35,000 which was quickly called by Altinok.

The turn brought the {q-Hearts} which sparked fireworks at the table. Dordevic continued for 80,000 which did not phase Altinok who snap-jammed to put Doredevic all-in. Before the dealer could place the all-in triangle in front of Altinok, Dordevic called.

Mehmet Altinok: {a-}{k-}
Zoran Dordevic: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Altinok shook his head in disappointment as Dordevic revealed he hit a set on the turn and could not improve on the river. Dordevic makes a massive double-up, a flesh wound for the former chip leader Altinok.

Level 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Only 113 players remain as the field continues to race towards the business end of the day.

Klein Eliminated by Lach

Level 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Nethanel Klein had previously jammed his short stack without being called and then did so again for what appeared to be 56,000 in the hijack. Kai Uwe Lach looked him up from the button and the blinds got out of the way.

Nethanel Klein: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Kai Uwe Lach: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop left Klein in desperate shape and it was all over after the {6-Spades} turn to make the {5-Clubs} river a formality.

Shortly after the blinds went up, the same table then also lost the champion of the previous edition as Feyzullah Karaarslan was knocked out by Umit Dalkilic.

Delaine Knocked Out by Di Giacomo

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The cards were already on their backs when Tom Delaine jumped out of his seat. With the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} he had made kings and deuces on the {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} board but it was no good. Claudio Di Giacomo tabled the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} for aces and deuces to score the knockout and become one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Hanu Bad Beats Madsen

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jakob Madsen
Jakob Madsen

Volkan Alkan raised to 8,000 from under the gun. The action then folded all the way to Jakob Madsen in the small blind and he pushed for 42,000. Mihai Ciprian Hanu had a stack of around 125,000 in the big blind and opted to call, which forced out Alkan.

Jakob Madsen: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Mihai Ciprian Hanu: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop and {7-Spades} turn gave Hanu a gutshot, which he indeed hit thanks to the {6-Clubs} on the river.
