Brimmers First Casualty of the Day

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Gerhard Brimmers
Gerhard Brimmers

In a previous hand against Robert Ashelm doubled through Gerhard Brimmers with {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} versus {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} on a board of {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Shortly after, Mark Helou squeezed to 4,800 only for Brimmers to get his stack of around 20,000 in. Helou quickly called and the cards were turned over.

Gerhard Brimmers: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Mark Helou: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop left Brimmers drawing dead right away, which made the {10-Spades} turn and {6-Hearts} river a formality.

Adler Cracks Papapetrou's Aces to Chip Up

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There were already around 12,000 in the middle to the {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Spades} river when Yiannakis Papapetrou checked. From two seats over, Eike Adler made it 6,500 to go and Papapetrou was sent into a tank.

After more than a minute, he asked "do you have ten-jack?" but only received some brief chatter back. Papapetrou then called and Adler rolled over the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a straight to win the pot, as Papapetrou mucked his {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Brimmers Loses a Bunch Without Showdown

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Joining the action on the {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades} turn, Gerhard Brimmers checked his option and then faced a bet worth 3,800 by Gaetano La Iacona to call.

The {8-Hearts} river paired the board and Brimmers now bet 6,500. That sent his opponent into a brief tank and he then called. Brimmers tossed the cards into the muck to forfeit the pot and La Iacona won the pot without any showdown.

Siemund Involved in the Action

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

While he usually prefers four cards instead of two and has even won a side event during the ongoing stop, Peter Siemund from Berlin is also taking part on Day 1a of the Main Event as well.

With two streets of prior action, the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades} river was checked behind him and Iuliu Vlaic. Siemund tabled the {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for a missed gutshot and that was beaten by the {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} of Vlaic.

One hand later, Siemund opened to 500 and all opponents folded.

Unsal Wins Early Pot Off Puetz

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Joining the action on the {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} turn, Onur Unsal bet 3,100 from under the gun and was called by Christopher Puetz on the button. Unsal then elected to check the {a-Clubs} river on which Puetz bet for what appeared to be 5,900.

Unsal instantly called by tossing in a single chip and rolled over his {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for aces and queens despite not being the last aggressor. Puetz nodded, tapped the table and tossed his cards into the muck.
