Bise Back Near the Top

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Symeon Alexandridis
Symeon Alexandridis

There is a new big stack in the field and he is from Switzerland. Emil Bise recalled a three-bet pot to 14,000 in the small blind and was called by Symeon Alexandridis. On a flop of {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Bise check-raised from 20,000 to 45,000 and Alexandridis stuck around to then see the {9-Spades} on the turn.

Bise jammed with pocket tens for a set and Alexandridis tabled the {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for the straight and flush draw. Another spade came but it was the {7-Spades} river that paired the board.

Late Night Counts on Day 1a

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Orpaz Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Mario Colavita raised to 3,500 and was called by Stefan Drusca in the cutoff, Tom Orpaz also came along out of the small blind. On the {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Orpaz bet 1,600 and Colavita's raise to 7,700 forced out Drusca.

Orpaz had other plans and clicked it back to 16,500. Colavita tossed in calling chips but folded on the {7-Diamonds} turn when Orpaz bet 21,000.

Late Night Eliminations

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Kaimakamis Vanishes After the Break

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

In the last hand before the break Vangelis Kaimakamis doubled Patrik Zidek. Things got even worse when the action restarted as he jammed the last 25,000 only to get snap-called by Ori Elul.

Vangelis Kaimakamis: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Ori Elul: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop gave Elul top set while Kaimakamis had a gutshot. Even more outs appeared with the {7-Diamonds} turn but the {5-Hearts} river failed to keep Kaimakamis in contention.

Double Knockout Boosts Tomecki's Stack Once Again

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Lukasz Tomecki had been a big stack only to then lose a bigger chunk of his chips. However, he made up for it in a three-way all-in that reduced the field by two contenders.

Cenk Oguz pushed for the last 13,700 and Tomecki flat-called on the button. Eusebiu Jalba then reraised for 43,600 in the small blind with 2,000 behind. Tomecki moved all-in and Jalba called it off.

Cenk Oguz: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Eusebiu Jalba: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Lukasz Tomecki: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop gave Jalba the nut flush draw but neither the {j-Hearts} turn nor the {5-Hearts} river provided any help. Instead, Tomecki improved to a set and recovered the previous losses.

Dedusha Felted by Orpaz

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Artan Dedusha got his stack in before the flop when he three-bet. Tom Orpaz had opened and then asked his opponent how good his hand was, to which Dedusha blew a kiss of excellence.

Alas, the chips went in when Orpaz jammed and Dedusha called it off.

Artan Dedusha: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Tom Orpaz: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Board: {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

No help came for the Brit, who exited towards the end of level eight.

Bad Timing Sends Albuquerque Counhago Packing

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

It remains unclear whether or not the chips went in preflop or after the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop but Portugal's Daniel Albuquerque Counhago was in desperate shape with his {a-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Inkyu Choi had him crushed with the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for the top set and a blank turn sealed his fate.
