Very Late Casualties on Day 1b

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ruzicka Scores Double Knockout to Take the Lead

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Vojtech Ruzicka

With a massive pot of some 180,000 to the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} river, Tobias Fischer pushed all-in from the small blind for 70,000.

Vojtech Ruzicka moved all-in over the top and that put Helmut Phung into the tank. He eventually called it off as the second-biggest stack in the showdown and Fischer tabled {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a second.

That, however, was instantly mucked when Ruzicka exposed his {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. A depleted Phung showed {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and left the table with a perplexed expression. "I can't give him a ten there, maybe jacks or queens ... ."

Lyubimov Eliminated by Strebel

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Philipp Engel re-entered late on Day 1b and more than doubled his stack. He then raised to 3,500 and Igor Lyubimov pushed for the last 13,000 from two seats over. Out of the small blind, Georg Strebel moved all-in for 35,600 and Engel asked for a quick count before folding.

Igor Lyubimov: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Georg Strebel: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Thanks to a board of {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Strebel improved to a pair of queens and leaped back above the starting stack.

Late Night Casualties on Day 1b

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Refos Prevails in Three-Way All-In Contest

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Raoul Refos

The cards on the "Dutch home game table" were on their backs already with Roberto Manfredi and Raoul Refos at risk against Raul van Boxtel.

Roberto Manfredi: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Raoul Refos: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Raul van Boxtel: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop changed nothing but Manfredi took the lead on the {k-Spades} turn. However, Refos got there with the {q-Diamonds} river and nearly tripled up for 35,100 as he had Manfredi narrowly covered.

Angelini Joins Late Night Bigger Stacks

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Nicola Angelini
Nicola Angelini

Several players gunning for the potential Day 1b chip lead and Italy's Nicola Angelini is among them. His latest open raise to 3,500 was called two ways out of the blinds and that led to the {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop. It checked to Angelini and he bet 6,000 to take it down right there.

"They never fold?!" he said with a grin on the face and exposed the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for the top pair and top kicker.

Jalba Felted by Tran's Big Blind Special

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Do Tran
Do Tran

A raise to 3,200 was called multiple ways before Do Tran squeezed to 25,000 out of the big blind. Eusebiu Jalba then pushed for what appeared to be 45,000 and table big stack Clayde Terlaan gave it some thought before folding.

William Kassouf on the button also let go and Tran snap-called.

Eusebiu Jalba: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Do Tran: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board brought no help to Jalba and he was knocked out in the final level of the night.

"I would have gotten there, queen high flush draw," Kassouf mentioned in table chat.

Kamphues Gets a Shove Through

Level 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The final hand before the break brought an open raise to 2,600 by Khashayar Maragheh and Lars Kamphues three-bet to 7,200, earning a call from Ingo Paulus on the button and Maragheh from under the gun.

All three players checked the {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and Kamphues' delayed continuation bet for 6,000 on the turn was called both ways. After the {5-Clubs} river, it checked to Kamphues and he pushed all-in for around 40,000 to force two folds.
