Dorian Melchers
Dorian Melchers

Down to around nine big blinds, Giuseppe Demasi got it in before the flop with the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

Dorian Melchers looked him up with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and the pair improved to a flush on the {q-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades} runout.

Smolka Notches Up Another Knockout

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dawid Smolka
Dawid Smolka

The cards were already on their backs when Stefan Schulze on the button put his hopes on the {k-Spades}{10-Spades}. That represented a gutshot on the {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop.

However, Dawid Smolka was miles ahead with the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for the middle set and none of the four jacks appeared on the {a-Diamonds} turn and {a-Clubs} river runout.

Zarans Departs in Three-Way All-In

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Berkan Munar
Berkan Munar

Kristaps Zarans raised to 15,000 from under the gun and Florian Bilan opted for a three-bet. The action then folded to Berkan Munar in the big blind, who jammed for 245,000. Zarans called all-in for fewer than that and Bilan called, having Munar covered by a few big blinds.

Kristaps Zarans: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Berkan Munar: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Florian Bilan: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

There were gasps on the table when the {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop gave Munar a set of jacks. Nothing changed on the {9-Clubs} turn and the {6-Hearts} river sealed the fate for Zarans, while Bilan was left short.

Narcis Nedelcu
Narcis Nedelcu

Heads-up to the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} turn, Tudor Popa bet 44,000 and fellow Romanian Narcis Nedelcu called from two seats over in the cutoff. The {2-Clubs} river paired the board for the second time and Popa now bet 79,000.

Nedelcu tossed in a single chip for the call and was good with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, as Popa only had {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

Van De Ree Doubles Through Wheeler

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

David Hu raised to 16,000 on the button and Linda van de Ree flat-called out of the small blind. Jason Wheeler then three-bet to 62,000 in the big blind and Hu folded. Van De Ree pushed for 187,000 and Wheeler called.

Linda van de Ree: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Jason Wheeler: {k-}{k-}

The {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board delivered no surprise as Van De Ree doubled. Despite losing this hand, Wheeler remains among the big stacks in the penultimate level of the night.

Unsal Chips Up With a Straight Flush

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Onur Unsal
Onur Unsal

As the board showed {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, Adrian Koermoeczy paid off a bet worth 78,000 by the table big stack Onur Unsal. He was shown the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a ten-high straight flush and several players gasped.

"Jesus ..." Rachid El Yaacoubi sighed as he was sitting on a short stack in the two seat. Unsal had just taken a picture of the board with his smart phone and had a smile on the face.

"You need some coaching on how to make a straight flush?" Unsal asked back to El Yaacoubi as he holds nines times as many chips right now.

Kopyl's Turn to Double Through Orpaz

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Waldemar Kopyl
Waldemar Kopyl

Waldemar Kopyl raised from under the gun just before the blinds went up and was called by Tom Orpaz in the cutoff.

On a flop of {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Kopyl's small continuation bet was min-raised by Orpaz, who then called the shove by Kopyl for 127,000 on an action-paced table.

Waldemar Kopyl: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Tom Orpaz: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The flush draw of Orpaz also had two live cards but none of the outs came on the {9-Spades} turn and {8-Diamonds} river, allowing Kopyl to double.
