Back to the Drawing Board for Alexandridis

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

On a completed board showing {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Symeon Alexandridis was deep in the tank for several minutes. He faced a shove by Andrea Iocco and the clock was called on him.

Thirty seconds ran down without any decision and Alexandridis' cards were dead. Before they got scooped up, he flashed pocket sevens for a flopped set.

Vrakas' Elimination Boosts Bushell to the Lead

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Georgios Vrakas
Georgios Vrakas

On a completed board of {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, Matthew Bushell had a stack of T-25,000 chips pushed out in front while in the big blind and the action was on Georgios Vrakas. The latter had some 240,000 behind and eventually called it off.

Bushell revealed the {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a flopped set and Vrakas exposed his {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} before leaving the tournament area. While stacking the chips, Bushell mentioned that he had check-raised the flop, bet the turn and jammed the river.

Pasquale Di Ceglie
Pasquale Di Ceglie

Pasquale Di Ceglie started the action with a raise in late position and Waldemar Kopyl then three-bet on the button. The four-bet shove by Di Ceglie followed and Kopyl called for more than half of his stack.

Pasquale Di Ceglie: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Waldemar Kopyl: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The dominated pair gained no equity throughout the {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board and Di Ceglie briefly celebrated his victory.

"Who folded an ace?" Tom Orpaz inquired but received no answer from any of the opponents.

Alexandridis Back on the Rise

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Symeon Alexandridis
Symeon Alexandridis

The last few levels had not been as kind to Symeon Alexandridis but he just won a three-way all-in to get back into more healthy contention.

Over on table 81, he was involved in a three-way all-in with ace-king as relayed by Darren Kennedy. Guy Goossens had been all-in with ace-eight while Stefan Drusca looked both up with pocket sixes but it was Alexandris who claimed the side and main pot.

The same table then also lost Arkadiusz Liszewski shortly thereafter, reducing the field to fewer than 120 hopefuls.

Whether or not the money bubble will burst on Day 2 remains to be seen as the pace of eliminations has certainly slowed down. There are currently 122 contenders in the mix with the top 80 securing a portion of the seven-figure prize pool.

Falocco Cracks Aces to Double

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Antonio Falocco
Antonio Falocco

Waldemar Kopyl raised to 12,000 and Antonio Falocco then three-bet to 45,000, for nearly half of his stack. Silviu Baltateanu sigh-folded, Kopyl moved all-in and Falocco called it off for the last 106,000.

Antonio Falocco: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Waldemar Kopyl: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop provided the open-ender for Falocco, who whiffed the {10-Spades} turn but got there with the {q-Hearts} river.

Baltateanu mentioned in table chat he had folded pocket nines.
