Day 1a Completed
Day 1a of the WSOPC UK £1,100 Main Event, held at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, has now concluded. A total of 187 entries were recorded and, of those, 64 players will return for Day 2.
After 12 levels of play, Aleksandrs Golubevs finished the day at the top of the table with 370,000 chips.
Golubevs is a regular on the UK circuit and has $411,616 in live tournament earnings. His biggest score so far was at the GUKPT Luton in 2019, where he finished second for £33,900. He’s also previously locked up a first place finish at the Dusk Till Dawn 8-max series, worth £23,855.
Closely behind in joint second place are Bhavin Khatri and Jack McDermott, who are both sat on the exact same amount, 342,000 in chips.
Khatri so far has $614,242 in live tournament earnings to his name. Jack McDermott, meanwhile, will be looking to record his first live result since 2011. He’s now in a solid position to make an impactful return to the felt.
Joining them in the top five chip count, both with over 300,000 chips, are Andrew Tuxworth and Fabio Miranda. Other notable players who made it through Day 1a include Jack O’Neill, Julien Sitbon and Ian Hamilton.

| 9 | Khurram Javed | 283,000 | 70 |
| 10 | Nick Conlon | 275,000 | 68 |
The tournament room continued to fill up during the first couple of blind levels. In a game changing hand early on, Khatri found himself all in against two players and hit a set of queens to knock both players out of the game. The pot proved crucial to Khatri gaining his position at the top of the chip counts.
The day saw heated discussions as well as interesting hands. At around the half way point, Roberto Romanello made a mistimed preflop bluff attempt and ran into Hong Pham’s pocket aces. That hand has helped give Pham a solid stack of 226,000 chips and a healthy position to start on Day 2.
Eliminations came in fast and plenty towards the latter end, including a double elimination that contributed to sixth place Antonius Samuel’s stack.

The Main Event will continue with Day 1b, the second starting flight, which commences tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time. PokerNews will be bringing you live updates straight from the tournament floor.
