Serge Badel opened to 16,000 from middle position. Idir Haiche, who had had the clock called on him several times during the previous hands, called from the cutoff, and Evan Ulger in the small blind called.
Badel continued for 25,000 on the Q♣K♥10♣ flop. Haiche was the only one to call.
Badel went into the tank on the 5♣ turn. “How much?” Haiche asked impatiently before calling the clock. Badel eventually bet 100,000, exactly the amount of Haiche's stack.
Haiche went into the tank as well. “I call the time because you called it on me,” Badel said after almost two minutes.
When the countdown reached zero, Haiche slammed his hand on the table. Badel thought he might have called and flipped over K♠J♠. Haiche argued that he hadn't called and could still make a decision because he only slammed his hand on the table.
Almost ten minutes after the beginning of the hand, the tournament director was called and ruled that Haiche's hand was dead, as he had not made a decision before the end of the countdown.
