Alexandar Denishev Leads Last 31 into Final Day

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Alexandar Denishev leads Main Event into final day
Alexandar Denishev leads Main Event into final day

The second and penultimate day of the World Series of Poker Circuit €1,650 Main Event at King's Casino in Rozvadov saw 282 players return to the tables with more than 30 late entrants bumping the overall field to 715. The top 80 spots shared a portion of the €1,021,911 prize pool, and it was former pot-limit Omaha world champion and Rozvadov PLO High Roller runner-up Jan-Peter Jachtmann that bubbled.

The German had flopped a set, but could not fade the flush draw of Süleyman Erdar to miss out on the money. Other notables such as Michal Polchlopek, Thomas Butzhammer, Erich Kollmann, Roger Hairabedian, Aleksandar Tomovic, Sam Grafton, Scott Hanna, Day 1b chip leader Marcin Wydrowski, Erwann Pecheux, Micha Hoedemaker, and Sasa Lalos shared the same fate.

Once in the money, Zeus-Jan Post was sent to the rail straight away. Other familiar faces such as Super High Roller third-place finisher Pierre Mothes and runner-up Martin Kabrhel also quickly fell, as did Pavel Binar and Mario Eder.

Paul Ciaca busted in bizarre circumstances against Dragan Simeunovic and the next fireworks came soon after when Jakub Piwowarski looked set to double up only to lose against the running aces of Marius-Alexandru Gicovanu.

Alexandar Denishev was a short stack before the bubble and then hit a four-outer against Jacek Pustula to stay in the tournament. In the money, Denishev shot towards the top of the leader board by eliminating Ömer Cubukcu and Atik Miah in the same hand.

WSOP Circuit ranking leader Marek Blasko also fell on the penultimate level of the day, and 2015 WSOP bracelet winner Paul Michaelis vanished at the start of Level 23.

Ultimately, 31 players advanced to the final day and Denishev claimed the lead with 1,633,000. He's followed by 2015 WPT National Vienna champion Zoltan Gal (1,572,000) and the aforementioned Erdar (1,569,000). Other big stacks and notables include Michael Magalashvili (1,394,000), Quirin Zech (1,048,000), Rozvadov Circuit ring winners Miltiadis Kyriakides (783,000) and Vasili Firsau (415,000), Aleksei Ivanov (753,000), and Amir Mozaffarian (593,000).

Action will resume on Monday at 14:00 local time with Level 24 and blinds of 10,000/20,000 with a running ante of 3,000. All players have €4,680 locked up for their efforts, but all eyes are set on the coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring as well as the first-place prize of €206,927. The tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner on Monday, and there will also be a live stream available as of 18:30 local time on a security delay of 30 minutes. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be there until the champion is crowned, so you won't miss any of the key hands.

Vadim Markushevski
Vadim Markushevski

The action folded to Vadim Markushevski and he moved all in for 240,000 from the button with {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Quirin Zech had an easy call with pocket aces from one seat over and held up.

Soon after, Tonino Schmitz raised and Zech three-bet to 93,000 from the button. Schmitz called and they checked down the flop {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. On the {7-Diamonds} turn, Schmitz check-called a bet worth 71,000 before the {5-Clubs} was checked through again. Zech showed {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and that was good enough to win the pot.

Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Paul Michaelis got moved tables after the break and was then suddenly at the payout desk. It turns out that Amir Mozaffarian had raised and Andrew King three-bet from the button. Michaelis shoved for 285,000 from the small blind with pocket eights and King called with pocket aces to score the knockout.

Mozaffarian also gave up a middle-sized pot to Aleksei Ivanov after the latter gave him the staredown on the turn {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} after betting 125,000.

Marek Blasko
Marek Blasko

Marek Blasko raised for all but a few chips behind from under the gun and Thomas Erler made the call, exposing his cards in the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} without noticing that Blasko in the eight seat had chips behind.

Blasko committed the rest with ace-ten and the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} to award the chips to Erler. He then received a one round penalty for exposing his cards out of turn.

Denishev Busts Cubukcu and Miah

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Atik Miah
Atik Miah

Alexandar Denishev raised to 25,000 from early position and Vasili Firsau called before Ömer Cubukcu shoved from the button for 293,000. Atik Miah called all in for less out of the big blind and Denishev asked for a count before making the call. Firsau folded the {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and made the correct decision.

Denishev: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Miah: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Cubukcu: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Denishev made a full house to bust two short stacks.

Piwowarski Busts in Brutal Beat

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jakub Piwowarski
Jakub Piwowarski

With pocket kings and a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, one should feel quite secure when facing the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} of an opponent. Jakub Piwowarski was in exactly that situation against Marius-Alexandru Gicovanu. The {A-Hearts} turn and {A-Spades} river however gave Gicovanu a runner ruller full house and the Romanian jumped up to his rail to high-five while Piwowarski headed to the rail with a bad beat story to tell.

Ciaca Busts in Incredible Hand

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Paul Ciaca
Paul Ciaca

Paul Ciaca had moved all in for 74,000 from the button and Dragan Simeunovic tossed in a T-5,000 chip from the small blind, though it was not clear that he actually wanted to limp or call the shove. He then exposed his cards with {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and the action was on Mateusz Dziewonski.

The latter moved all in and Simeunovic pushed forward his entire stack of almost 40 big blinds to the surprise of everyone on the table and the rail that had gathered, Ciaca in fact could not hold together and burst out in laughter. Dziewonski snap-called with the {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Ciaca was at risk with the {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The Romanian rail demanded for help but the board ran out blank until the {3-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs} turn. The dealer then burned and turned the {5-Spades} on the river and Simeunovic doubled up under incredible circumstances for 380,000. "What the hell are you doing?" a stunned Dziewonski asked and just shook his head. Simeunovic then picked up a one round penalty for exposing the cards out of turn.

Martin Kabrhel

Frantisek Bures was the 74th place finisher and Stefan Raab as well as Martin Kabrhel followed.

Zoltan Gal had limped in and Kabrhel checked his option. On the flop {Q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, Gal continued for 11,000 and Kabrhel called before the {8-Hearts} fell on the turn. Gal now fired 27,000 and Kabrhel shoved for 100,000 with the {8-}{9-} for two pair. Gal snap-called with {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for the straight and the river bricked.

Pierre Mothes
Pierre Mothes

In the Super High Roller, the pocket queens of Pierre Mothes were cracked and he had to settle for third place. Now, he had pocket aces and the enormous run good of chip leader Süleyman Erdar continued once again after calling the three-bet shove for 136,000 with sevens. A seven came on the board and that was it for Mothes.

Igor Lebloch and Peter Spacek were also eliminated while Johnny Hansen used the bubble to increase his stack significantly. The field has been reduced to 72 players, though the 74th place finisher has not collected his money yet.
