He Had Tran Hands

Just before dinner:

Theo Tran bets 2,000 in middle position and the button calls. The flop is {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Both check. The turn is {J-Hearts} and Tran bets 1,000. The button calls. The river is {a-Spades} and Tran checks. The player bets 1,700 and Tran calls. The opponent has K-10 for the straight and Tran mucks.

Soon after, a player bets 1,600 in middle position and Tran calls in the big blind. The flop is {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Tran checks and the opponent bets 2,100. Tran goes all in for 8,850 and the player calls. Tran has 6-9 for top two pair and the opponent has A-K. The killer turn is the {K-Diamonds}, the river is the {8-Clubs}, and Tran is down to 9,500.

A Great Rep

Just before the break, on a flop of {5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, a player in middle position goes all in for 20,000 and Rep Porter goes into the tank. While Rep was considering a decision, his opponent tried to razzle him, telling him how badly he wanted Rep's chips. His opponent eventually called for the floor, who put him on the clock. With 26 seconds left remaining, Rep made the call. Rep turned over the {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, good for top pair and a gutshot straight draw. His opponent showed the {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, for two pair. The {K-Clubs} on the turn gave Rep 7 outs to win and 6 to tie, but there would be no stalemate here. The {3-Diamonds} came on the river, giving Rep a bigger two pair and further padding his field leading stack.
