Day 1 Completed

That's a Wrap

Day 1 play has concluded here in the Amazon room and it was a good one. Of the 847 players who started the day, only 42 will return tomorrow for Day 2.

Leading the way is consummate tournament pro Hoyt Corkins, who will be trying to win his second WSOP bracelet.

Not far behind are Steve Wong and Joe Tehan, who both spent time atop the leader board throughout the day.

Tune in tomorrow for our continued coverage of Event 30, as we follow all the action from 42 players to the final 6.

Good night!

Robin Hood Ousted by Quads

When Barry Greenstein got his money in with A-9 against Rep Porter's K-9, it was looking like Barry was going to double through just before the end of Day 1 play; the poker gods had other plans.

One by one, the board revealed all three of the remaining kings in the deck by the turn, knocking Barry out of the tournament in 47th place.

Always a good sport, Barry signed a copy of his book for Rep before wishing everyone luck and exiting the tournament area.

Vinny Vinh and Ryan Fair Exchange Blows

Having lost 40K to Ryan Fair the hand before, Vinny Vinh wasn't about to be on the losing end of two hands in a row.

Vinny made it 6,000 to go before the flop and Fair reraised to 22,000. Vinny called, leaving him with 18,000 behind.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Fair put Vinny all in. Vinh made the call with {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Fair showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for ace high.

The {9-Clubs} fell on the turn, giving Vinny the checkmark for the hand, doubling him through to 80,000 chips.
