Strange Developments

Thomas Wahlroos, who's apparently a bit intoxicated, walked up to Roland de Wolfe's table and knocked his chips all over the place. Afterwards, he then snuck up behind Phil Hellmuth and proceeded to knock HIS chips everywhere, only Phil was in the middle of a hand!

More to come . . . stay with us!

O'Donnell's Reraise Makes Lawson Fold; Commentary by Tony Hachem

When the action got around to Ted Lawson in the big blind, he made it 8,000 more to go. Kevin O'Donnell then announced his intent to raise and re-popped it to 15,000. Bill Gazes, who had completed from the small blind, mucked his cards, and the action was back on Lawson who went into the tank for a long, long time.

While Lawson considered his decision, I had a nice little chat with Tony Hachem, who provided us with some insight into the hand, as well as some words on his own tournament progression:

"I've been card dead for the past three hours. I was the chip leader awhile back and now look," he said, pointing to his stack, which stood at about 35,000 at the time.

Tony then went into detail about the hand in progress, as Kevin sat stoically, while Lawson considered a decision:

"Kevin probably has Kings," Tony said. "He (Ted) has either got Queens or Jacks. If he's got Jacks it's an easy laydown. If he's got Queens, well . . . "

At this point, Kevin called for the clock, after a long two minutes had passed.

"He (Ted) can't call . . . he's either got to go all-in or fold," Tony said.

As the tournament director ticked the last seconds off the clock, Lawson mucked his cards face-up, revealing A-K.

"Aye, yah?!" Tony said in shock, as he saw Lawson's hand.

The hand upped O'Donnell's chip stack to just over 60,000.

Amir Vahedi Eliminated

Vahedi committed the last of his chips to the pot before the flop with a pocket pair of 8's. He found himself in a coinflip situation, against an opponent who showed {J-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Vahedi's opponent wound up pairing the Jack, which spelled the end of the day for Amir.

Prendes Taking Over

Chip leader Alex Prendes, Jr. is starting to put his big stack to work. Having limped in from middle position, Prendes called a 3,600 raise from John Racener in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Racener passed to Prendes, who bet 7,000. Racener then check-raised to 17,000, prompting Prendes to move all-in; he had Racener covered. The bet made Racener muck his hand and brought Prendes past the 200K mark on the day.

Rory Mathews Eliminates Joe Hachem

Hachem moved all-in preflop for 8,000 chips and was called by Rory Mathews. When they flipped their cards over, Hachem showed 7-9 offsuit, while Mathews held {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

The {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop gave Hachem top two pair, but the {K-Clubs} on the turn gave Mathews a Jack-high flush. Hachem would need either a 7 or a 9 on the river to stay alive, but the board paired the 5, sending Hachem home early.
