Juliano Eliminates Clark: Crowd Goes Wild

Juliano and Fans
Juliano and Fans
Juliano Maesano just gave his fans another reason to cheer; he just eliminated Scott Clark from the tournament.

The {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} {8-Clubs} board gave Clark, who held A-8, a pair of eights, while Maesano picked up a gutshot straight draw, holding K-J.

The {10-Spades} on the river gave Maesano a straight and the checkmark for the hand, eliminating Clark from the competition.

As Maesano revealed his cards, his supporters went crazy. Juliano graciously stood up from the table and shook Clark's hand before Clark exited the tournament area.

Clark picked up $6,178 for his 16th place finish.

Duran Rakes Three-Way Pot

David Duran just regained the chip lead, taking down a three-way pot involving Duran, Raymond Davis and Matt Matros.

The flop came {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades} and all three players checked. The turn brought Duran's money card, the {8-Diamonds}, as Duran held a pocket pair of sixes; the eight gave him a nine-high straight. Duran led out with a bet and both Davis and Matros called.

The river card was the {Q-Hearts}, and again Duran led out with a bet. Raymond Davis was the only caller, as Matros decided to muck. When Duran revealed his sixes at the showdown, Davis mucked his cards in frustration and stepped away from the table.

After the hand, here's how they stacked up:

Matros: 56,000
Davis: 103,000
Duran: 200,000

Shchemelev Eliminates Thomas

Vladimir Shchemelev just eliminated Justin Thomas from the tournament.

This was only Thomas' second WSOP appearance; he played one event last year but failed to cash. Thomas, hailing from Westfield, NY, took home $5,514 for his 21st-place finish -- not bad for a second go around!

Shchemelev has since taken over the chip lead from Duran, and is currently sitting at 188,000 chips.
