Phillips Taking a "Road Trip" for One Round After the Break

Todd Phillips
Todd Phillips
Actor/writer/director Todd Phillips was given a one-round penalty just before the break for inappropriate language. After a hand, Phillips commented, "I only called him preflop because he's a f***king a**hole."

Phillips was referring to Ray Didonato, who called the floor, saying "I may be a f***ing a**hole, but you can't call me one."

Phillips explained to the floor that he was only joking, but they dished out the penalty anyway, which will be enforced when play recommences in less than a minute.

Maingay Doubles Up to 51K

Team PokerNews player Olivier Maingay just survived a scare, getting all-in with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} against an opponent's pocket Kings, preflop.

The first three cards off the deck came {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, giving Maingay an open-ended straight draw, at which point the players at the table all started chanting, "Jack, Jack, Jack!" He's sitting at a particularly friendly table, where even the guy who called him with pocket Kings was reluctant to try and knock him out of the tournament. The group was preparing to share a round of drinks, just before the hand.

The turn card brought the {K-Clubs}, giving Maingay's opponent a set, and the chanting grew louder, "Jack, Jack, Jack!"

Sure enough, BAM! The {J-Hearts} fell on the river and everyone let out a sincere cheer; even the guy who lost the hand was caught smiling, as the pot was pushed to Maingay.

This Is How You Play This Game, Baby!

Scotty Celebrating Early?
Scotty Celebrating Early?
There are less than 400 players remaining in today's field and with play stopping at 350 most players are looking at the clock, glancing around the tables and nervously shuffling their chips. So how are Kirk Morrison and Scotty Nguyen waiting out the day? Well, over at the Bluff feature table they've just popped the cork on a bottle of Vintage Moet et Chandon and are sipping champagne and cracking jokes.

Can Kim Hua Eliminated

Can Kim Hua Eliminated
Can Kim Hua Eliminated
Can Kim Hua found himself all in preflop holding Q-Q. While typically this is not a bad spot to be in, when your opponent holds A-A, as was the case with Hua, it's less than ideal.

Hua didn't go out without a sweat though. The flop came {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. Hua still needed one of the two remaining queens to take the lead. He picked up four more outs when the turn came the {10-Diamonds}. The river {A-Clubs} gave Hua a broadway straight, but with the board paired, his opponent made aces full and eliminated Hua from the tournament.

Tournament Info

Tournament staff have just informed us that we are likely to get down to 350 players before the end of the fifth of today's levels. If that occurs, players tomorrow will finish at the same time as players finish today. This is to ensure that players receive equal playing time before the field is joined as one.

Mickey Seagle Wins, Then Moves

Board: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Preflop, under the gun, a player raises to 6,000 and Mickey Seagle calls in the big blind. On the flop, Seagle checks in the dark and the UTG checks behind.
On the turn, Seagle bets 8,000 and UTG raises to 16,000. Seagle re-raises all in and UTG calls, turning over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Seagle has {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and is up to 185,000. Immediately after, his table breaks and he is moved to table 58, to sit among Meylan Gratien and Adam Schoenfeld.

"Medic! Medic! Man Down!"

Kirk Morrison
Kirk Morrison
Kirk Morrison called a 7,000 preflop raise made by Mike Zinna and the two went heads-up to the flop.

The first three cards off the deck came {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Zinna led out with a 10,000 bet and Morrison followed up with a 25,000 raise; Zinna just called.

The {A-Clubs} came on the turn, and Zinna checked to Morrison who bet 20,000. Zinna made the call.

The river brought the {J-Hearts} and Zinna passed the action to Morrison, who put Zinna all-in for his last 33,400. At this point, Zinna went into the tank for a solid minute before finally making the call. "Nothing," said Morrison at the showdown; Zinna flipped over a pocket pair of Kings.

Scotty Nguyen, who is also sitting at the table, added, "Wow, nice call."

"I could've easily had an {A-Diamonds} there," said Morrison. After a long pause, Morrison then shouted, "Medic! Medic! Man down!"

Kirk may be down, but he's certainly not out with 115,000 in chips.

Deanna Dozier Eliminated

Deanna Dozier Eliminated
Deanna Dozier Eliminated
Ben Gold has just issued an apology to all the players and media around his table, and here is the reason why.

After raising preflop, Ben was reraised by Deanna Dozier and he made the call. Deanna showed {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds} while Ben only had {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Deanna has been eliminated.

As she left, Ben said "I'm sorry Deanna, sorry guys, sorry media guys, sorry everyone."
