Many Paths to Win A Pot

Jeffrey Ury, who at 94 is the oldest player in WSOP history, didn't hear another player announce a raise and only tossed in enough chips for a call. After he was advised how much he needed to call the raise he took the chips from his stack and said, "OK, let's see a flop!"

Which was {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. "Now I've got a hand," Ury said, and announced a 500 bet. But he tossed in a 5,000 chip, and after some discussion the verbal bet was of course binding and the other player in the pot called. Both players checked down the {2-Hearts} on the turn and {Q-Clubs} on the river, and when the other player said that he had a pair Ury announced, "I have a pair, too," and flipped over {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. That hand held up and he now has 21,500 in chips.
