Laak Hits the 400 Mark

Alexander Kostritsyn raised under the gun to 15,000. Phil Laak reraised to 45,000. Kostritsyn put in another raise to 130,000 and then Laak decided it was time to ship it in and did so for a total of around 280,000. Kostritsyn was faced with a big call of about 150,000, but made the laydown in the end.

Laak is now around 400,000 and climbing the ladder strong.

Patrik Antonius Rides the Rollercoaster

Patrik Antonius doubles through Nikolay Evdakov
Patrik Antonius doubles through Nikolay Evdakov
After a flop of {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} and with 50,000 in the pot, Andreas Krause moved in for his last 37,000. Patrik Antonius considered the situation and Krause said, "You're the better player, fold and I'll show."

Antonius decided to make Krause show his cards by calling the bet, and when the cards were revealed his {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} trailed Krause's {K-Spades}{J-Spades}. The {9-Diamonds} came on the turn and the {A-Hearts} on the river, and Krause doubled up to 110,000.

That left Antonius with 135,000, and on the very next hand he mixed it up with Nikolay Evdakov. Antonius raised before the flop and Evdakov called in the big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} and both players checked. When the {4-Clubs} turned Evdakov bet 35,000 and Antonius called. The {A-Hearts} fell on the river and when Evdakov checked Antonius bet 80,000. Evdakov made the call and Antonius turned over {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for the wheel and Evdakov mucked his hand. That pushed Antonius back up to 270,000.

For a Few Dollars More...

Phil Laak stole the blinds then told the table, "For eight dollars I'll show my cards."

Silence. Laak lowered his offer to five dollars. Still no takers. Then Nenad Medic said, "How about three?"

"Nope," Laak replied and tossed his cards in the muck. Never be afraid to walk away from a deal if the price isn't right.

Jerri Thomas Eliminated in 27th Place ($26,470)

Jerri Thomas-- 27th Place
Jerri Thomas-- 27th Place
Amit Makhija raised to 21,000 from late position, Jerri Thomas moved all in for 80,000, and Makhija made the call.

Thomas: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Makhija: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

It was a classic race situation, but the {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop gave the advantage to Makhija. The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, the river was the {6-Spades} and Thomas was eliminated in 27th place. She'll take home $26,470 for her performance.

After the hand, Makhija was up to 495,000.

Patrik Antonius Takes a Pot From Eli Elezra

From the cutoff Patrik Antonius raised to 21,000 and Eli Elezra called in the big blind. Elezra checked dark and after the {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop Antonius followed suit. The {4-Diamonds} hit on the turn and when Elezra checked again Antonius bet 25,000. Elezra check-raised to 50,000 and Antonius made the call. The two checked it down after the {6-Diamonds} on the river and Elezra announced, "Ace-high." Antonius rolled over {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for top pair and took down a pot that lifted his stack to 310,000.
