Eskimo Left Out in the Cold?

Time to go, Eskimo
Time to go, Eskimo
It would appear as though Paul "Eskimo" Clark's tournament has come to an abrupt end. He was last seen donning his coat, venturing towards the exit and wearing an "I've just been eliminated" expression across his face. Now I'm no body language expert, but I'd say that was a bad sign.

Men Nguyen

Continuing the Odyssey of Men, he has turned his 25 in chips into more like 2,000, an impressive feat indeed.

First he found that his two pair holding {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts} on a {10-Spades} {2-Spades} {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} board was good, doubling him up to a heady 525.

Next hand, he got it all in preflop with two callers, including the big blind. Both callers checked the {A-Clubs} {3-Spades} {4-Spades} flop, but the big blind bet the {3-Clubs} turn, forcing the other player to fold. Men's {A-Spades} {5-Spades} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} was behind his opponent's {3-?} {2-?} {K-?} {Q-?}, although he seems to have misread his opponent's hand and thought he was ahead with a pair of aces until someone pointed out that his opponent had trip threes. Anyway, all change on the {A-?} river and Nguyen had won, catapulting him up to a vertiginous 1,900.

You Ain't Got Jac

The colorful Jac Arama is down to just 2,000, having called down a hand of seven-card stud-8 with {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} in the hole, his opponent taking the pot with {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} plus {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a straight and a low, both to the six... or the semi-wheel as I (yes, just me I'm afraid) like to call it.

Jac is on his third pair of sunglasses, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Norman Chad Eliminated

If you placed Gus Hansen and Bart Simpson into the pods in The Fly, what bizarre amalgamation would be the result?... Yes, you guessed it, Bart Hanson, who is currently "flying" high after eliminating Norman Chad with a seven-high straight flush. Aye caramba!

Exits, Lies and Videotape

Ok, no actual video here. But exits and lies a-plenty.

Recent bustees include Stuart Paterson, Allyn Shulman, Jason Stern, Scott Bohlman and serious contender for best name in the world, Thang Nguyen. Our field is somewhat diminished -- down to 232 currently -- but still star-studded, with Hoyt Corkins, Todd Brunson, Gavin Griffin and Italian Pirate Max Pescatori among those leading the field.

The latter of those is sporting a sling on his arm, the result of an altercation with a flight of stairs at the Monte Carlo EPT Grand Final, although stories he has been feeding to polite enquirers include being attacked by a gang of ruffians ("You should've seen the other guys!") and straining his wrist overturning the table at a home game.

Shiver Me Timbers

I'm buying a Bungalow!
I'm buying a Bungalow!
He may have his arm in a sling, but Max Pescatori has come out swinging, calling a bet in seven-card stud-8 before betting out the final two streets with {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. His opponent held {Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} but folded to the final bet.

The Italian Pirate is now up to 16,850 and in confident mood. Word has it he fell down the stairs, but there are a number are rumors going round as to the origin of his injury.

"Ooh 'Eck" Says Jelinek

When your first four cards are {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}, you almost expect to hit something... anything... surely?

Well, Steve Jelinek did make something, but his two pair with {J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} wasn't quite what he was after, and alas it simply wasn't enough as his saw his stack plummet right back down to 4,125 after enjoying an early chip lead.

The Master Octuples Up

Watch out world
Watch out world
Blimey, that title sounds more thrilling than it actually is. Sadly for Men Nguyen, he only had 25 chips (or, more accurately, chip) at the time, but he did indeed turn that 25 into 200, taking the main pot, if you can still call it that, with kings up.

From small acorns... as they say.
