Prescott Takes the Booby Prize

Omaha-8:

...And our unfortunate bubbler is Matt Prescott.

He raised all in preflop and got two callers. Cory Wolnewitz bet the turn and river of the {J-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades} board, and Craig Gray called him down. Wolnewitz turned over {3-Spades} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades} {4-Spades} for a six low and a straight, Gray turned over {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} -- bubbling Prescott simply mucked and Wolnewitz scooped the lot.

A one-hour dinner break for all except Mr Prescott, who can take as long as he likes.

Set Over Set

Ground down
Ground down
Omaha-8:

With Marco Gallo raising it up preflop, Michael Mizrachi called and the two players saw a flop of {K-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Gallo bet, and Mizrachi called.

On the {J-Spades} turn, Gallo bet, Mizrachi raised and Gallo called before check-calling a Mizrachi bet on the {8-Hearts} river. On their backs:

Gallo = {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Mizrachi = {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs}

No low, means Gallo takes the pot with top set.

Waiting it Out Before Dinner

Play has predictably slowed down since hand-for-hand play was declared -- not only because noone wants to take the bubble booby prize, but also because very often four of our five tables will simply be waiting for the last table to finish its hand.

However, the players will only be getting their dinner break after the bubble bursts, so there is definitely an incentive to keep the action moving.

Avoiding the Bubble

With the bubble looming, there are a handful of notable faces hanging on like grim death and hoping not to take that unwanted 41st spot. These include:

Barbara Enright -- 16,000
Scott Clements -- 13,500
John Racener -- 23,000
Alan Boston -- 13,000

Silverman Suddenly Short

Stud 8:

Under the shadow of the looming bubble, Sam Silverman lost a huge pot.

He bet every street of his {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} hand. Michael Mizrachi raised third street and sixth street, holding {J-Hearts} {4-Spades} {9-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and Silverman called. Silverman also called Mizrachi's seventh street bet, and mucked when Mizrachi turned over {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} {8-Spades} for trips.

Mizrachi up to a chip lead-threatening 110,000; Silverman down to a mere 11,000.
