Greg Raymer Eliminated

Greg Raymer Eliminated
After a raise to 3,000 from early position, Greg Raymer moved all in for roughly 20,000 from late position. The raiser made a verbal call and Raymer was all in for his tournament life. His opponent stood pat and Raymer discarded just one card. After the discard, his opponent said "eighty six." Raymer disgustingly mucked his hand without a draw. "I'm drawing dead," he said. "Every time I raise a pot with a pat eight, everyone folds." Raymer took his time getting up, perhaps reflecting upon what might have been.

Antonius Eliminated

Tom Schneider has eliminated Patrik Antonius. He raised to 3,000. After thinking for about a minute, Antonius reraised to 9,500. Schneider tanked for about a minute himself before reraising to 30,000. Patrik debated putting his tournament life on the line before calling all in for less.

Schneider stood pat with a 9-6. Antonius drew one but couldn't draw well. He paired his fives and is out. Schneider is up to about 80,000 chips.

A Call For the Ages

We caught up to this hand after both Carlos Mortensen and Michael Mizrachi had each drawn one card in a heads up pot. Carlos Mortensen bet 11,000 and Grinder went into the tank. After quite a bit of time, Mizrachi finally made the call. Mortensen tapped the felt as if to indicate a great call and he showed a pair of eights. Mizrachi tabled {2-?} {2-?} {10-?} {6-?} {4-?}.

Giang and Hansen Having Fun

You wouldn't necessarily think this is a $5,000 tournament with a $573,000 first prize the way Chau Giang and Gus Hansen are joking with each other. After pre-draw betting, Giang drew one. When Hansen drew two, Giang laughed.

"Come on," he said. "I think I'll bet in the dark if you'll call in the dark."

"I can't promise I'll call in the dark," responded Hansen.

Giang bet 5,000 and Hansen did eventually make the call. Giang showed 9-8-7-6-4 to rake the pot.

More Eliminations

Jen Harman is out. Her all in for 24,000 was called by Stephen Wolff. Ater the draw, Harman paired deuces; Wolff made a 10-7.

Berry Johnston has also been eliminated. His 17,600 all in was called by a player who made a jack-nine. Johnston drew one, holding 5-4-3-2, but picked up a queen.

Tough Pot for Black; Nice Pot for Flack

Andy Black
Andy Black
Tom Schneider raised in late position to 3,000. Andy Black made the call from the small blind and drew one. Schneider then drew two. Upon seeing that, Black bet 6,000. Schneider called. Black tabled a 9-8, which was one pip worse than Schneider's 9-7.

At a different table, Layne Flack had different fortune. He raised to 2,300 and was called by Michael Binger. Each player drew one card. Flack bet 5,000 after the draw and Binger called. Flack's 9-5 was the best hand and dragged the pot.

Scotty Nguyen Eliminated

Tom Dwan had just sent another legend home. This time, Scotty Nguyen. Nguyen, Dwan, and Shawn Sheikhan got tangled up in a pot that saw each one drawing a single card. Nguyen was all in come showdown and his {9-?} low couldn't best the {7-?} {5-?} tabled by Dwan. Sheikhan suffered only minor losses on the hand but Nguyen was eliminated.

Classic Matusow

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow just took down a good sized pot while holding {7-?} {6-?} {4-?} {3-?} {2-?}. After winning the pot, Mike yelled out to whoever was listening "can I get dealt that hand about 20 more times in this tournament please?"
