Chad Brown Doubles Up

Chad Brown
Chad Brown
Chad Brown just doubled through Todd Brunson when Brown's {8-?} {6-?} {5-?} {3-?} {2-?} bested Brunson's holding. After a raise of 2,000 before the draw, both players drew one card and then Brown moved all in. Brunson called and then got the bad news. Chad Brown is now up to about 56,000 chips.

Allen Cunningham Eliminated

Allen Cunningham Eliminated
Allen Cunningham Eliminated
Action folded around to Carlos Mortensen in the small blind. With only Allen Cunningham left to act in the big blind, Mortensen raised to 2,500. Cunningham reraised to 8,000 and Mortensen called. Carlos drew one card while Cunningham stood pat. Mortensen bet enough to put Allen all in and he made the call. Carlos showed {9-?} {6-?} {5-?} {3-?} {2-?}. Cunningham mucked his hand and headed for the rail.

Four-Way Pot Gets Under Hellmuth's Skin; Goes Out Shortly Thereafter

We caught up with this hand on the draw. Nikolay Evdakov, Phil Hellmuth in the big blind, Scotty Nguyen and Howard Lederer were in the pot for 2,200 each. After just calling the raise, Evdakov stood pat on the draw.

"What?!" exclaimed Scotty Nguyen. "Looks like we need to go to Plan B!" Hellmuth and Nguyen each drew two; Lederer drew one. After the draw, Evdakov checked the action. Now the entire table was confused. Hellmuth took that as his opportunity to bet 4,000.

"Oh boy," said Nguyen, peeking at his cards. He gave it some thought and then mucked. Next action was to Lederer, who took a glance at Hellmuth's chips and then called. Evdakov also called.

"Ten-eight," said Hellmuth. Lederer mucked. Then Evdakov took a few seconds before turning over a 9-8. Hellmuth looked at Evdakov in disgust.

"Just say you have a nine," he snarled.

Nguyen interrupted. "I was right! I threw away a ten-nine."

Hellmuth ignored the interruption. "Come all the way from Europe to get slowrolled."

Someone nearby said, "You probably get slowrolled more than anyone else, Phil."

"Oh yeah," agreed Phil. "They're all such donkeys. They don't even understand."

Evdakov eliminated Hellmuth a few hands later when both stood pat before the draw. Hellmuth's 9-8 was just a bit worse than Evdakov's 9-7.

After being eliminated, Hellmuth walked over to Mike Matusow. "I'm getting sick of it," he complained. After a moment, he added, "But I'm fine."

Berry Johnston Bests Carlos Mortensen

Berry Johnston opened the pot with a raise to 2,100. Carlos Mortensen called from the button as did Allen Cunningham from the small blind. Each player takes one card. Cunningham and Johnston check to Mortensen who bets 5,500. Cunningham folds but Johnston makes the call. Johnston shows {J-?} {9-?} {7-?} {4-?} {2-?} which is good. Mortensen mucks. Johnston is up to approximately 33,000 after the hand.

Binger and "The Grinder" Tangle

Action folds around to Michael Binger in the small blind and he raises to 2,600. Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi calls from the big blind. Both men draw just one card. Binger fires out 4,000 after the draw and Mizrachi calls. Binger shows {10-?} {9-?} {5-?} {4-?} {3-?} and Mizrachi mucks.
