Stealing from the Rich

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein, sometimes dubbed "The Robin Hood of Poker," has been running over his table as of late. Playing a lot of hands, Greenstein has been aggressive, often raising or reraising his opponents to win pots preflop or on the flop. This strategy seems to be working well for him now, as he currently commands a stack of about 29,000.

Perry Friedman Playing Power Poker

A middle-position player opened for a raise to 800 and Perry Friedman made the call from the button. The big blind called as well and they took a flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The big blind checked and the raiser led out for 1,100. Friedman flat-called and the big blind passed. The {7-Spades} hit the turn and the raiser slowed down, this time checking. Friedman moved all in for approximately 4,800 and his opponent passed. Perry Friedman took down the pot and is now up to about 9,000 chips.

Kirk Morrison Eliminated

It took just two back-to-back hands for Kirk Morrison to lose all his chips. In the first hand, Morrison took his {A-Spades}{3-Spades} up against the {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} of his opponent, and despite flopping a straight flush draw, came up short to lose about half his stack.

The very next hand, Morrison pushed all in for 1,225 from the button holding {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and got a reluctant call from the big blind, who showed {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The flop was disaster for Morrison, coming {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and neither the {10-Diamonds} turn or the {Q-Hearts} river were any help to him.

Gowen Wins Race

Clonie Gowen moved the last of her chips into the middle with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and found a caller who tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

In a classic race Gowen was happy to see another nine hit the flop when the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} as she doubles up to over 6,000 in chips.

Ryan Daut Doubles

Ryan Daut
Ryan Daut
With 11,000 chips already in the pot on a board of {J-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} Ryan Daut moved his last 4,000 chips into the middle and his opponent made the call.

Daut tabled {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} for a full house which was good to collect the huge pot worth around 20,000 in chips.

Roenick Runs Out of Checks

From late position, Jeremy Roenick raised to 1,000. The big blind reraised to 2,400. Roenick put his tournament life at stake by reraising all in to 5,400 and the big blind made the call.

Roenick: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out 8-high, ending Roenick's day.

Shak Gets Short-stacked

On a board of {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, a player in middle position checked to Beth Shak. Shak bet 2,000 and the middle-position player shoved all-in for 4,575. Shak called and showed pocket nines while her opponent showed A-2. The river was of no help, and after the hand Shak is down only 800 in chips.

David Chiu's Day Ends

On a flop of {7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Rasam Mohammadian bet 2,500. Chiu raised for his tournament life to 4,600 and was called. Mohammadian showed jacks; Chiu had a pair of eights. Neither player improved on the turn or river and Chiu was eliminated.

Mohammadian's stack increased to approximately 16,000.
