Lederer Doubles Up

Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer was all in preflop holding A-K while his opponent had K-Q. The flop bricked for both players, though the turn brought the {K-Clubs}. His opponent was drawing to a queen on the river, which missed, giving Lederer a nice double-up to 50,000.

Hasan Habib Takes Some Chips from Anna Wroblewski

Habib raised to 3,000 from the cutoff and Wroblewski called from the button, as did the player in the small blind. The flop came {6-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {K-Spades} and when Habib checked Wroblewski bet 7,000. That was enough to chase the small blind but Habib called. The turn brought the {9-Hearts}, both players checked, and when the {A-Diamonds} fell on the river Habib bet 21,000. Anna called, then mucked when Habib showed {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} for the set. Habib is up to 99,000 while Anna slipped to 63,000.

Little Runs into a Shark

Jonathan Little, who was short-stacked at 8,200, moved all in for his remaining chips and was called by Humberto Brenes. Little turned over Q-4 and was dominated by Brenes' K-Q. Little found no help on the board and was eliminated.

Play Tightens Up

As we have entered the final stretch for the evening, players appear to be playing tighter, all hoping to make it to Day 2 and eventually the money. We're down to just 135 players remaining in the field, and the money is hit at 72. It's highly unlikely we'll get close to that tonight, with only seventeen minutes of play remaining, though we should get into the low hundreds.

Noah Boeken Wins a Big Pot from Terrence Chan

Noah Boeken
Noah Boeken
Boeken opened for 4,700 and Chan called on the button. The flop came {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} and when Boeken bet 6,200 Chan called, He also called when Boeken bet 20,000 after the {Q-Diamonds} fell on the turn, but when the {Q-Hearts} hit on the river Boeken moved all in for his last 26,000 and Chan folded.

Boeken showed two black aces and Chan said he'd had a king and a club flush draw. That hand left Chan with just 11,000 and Boeken's stack now stands at 87,000
