Ivey Pounding On Short Stacks

Phil Ivey has about three short stacks on his table who seem to have been stuck with the bring-in during the last few hands of Stud during hand-for-hand play. Ivey has been raising constantly and putting maximum pressure on his opponents who are desperately trying to reach the cash!

Ivey is now sitting with over 160,000 chips.

Bubble Watch

Our five shortest stacks are:

Markus Golser - 16,000
Mark Wilds - 15,000
Loi Tran - 14,000
Eric Froehlich - 12,000
Jan Sjavik - 9,000

These guys are going to have to make a move to double up shortly before the blinds and antes eat up their stack!

Ivey Eliminates Kollmann

Holdem:

PokerNews Cup Austria Champion Erich Kollmann raised it up from early position and Phil Ivey made the call from the blinds. The flop came A-8-7 and Ivey checked to Kollmann who fired his last chips into the middle. Ivey made the call with {8-Spades}{4-Spades} and was well ahead of Kollmann's {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The turn and river arrived 7-9 and Kollmann is eliminated as Ivey jumps to 145,000 chips.

It's ironic that Ivey is chip leader in this event as the same time that Daniel Negreanu has just won the bracelet in the $2,000 Limit Holdem event. Of course these two have a famous prop bet over the number of bracelets won in this series. Will this news be motivation for Ivey in today's event?
