Let Battle Commence

Yesterday we witnessed some real drama as 713 hopefuls were whittled down to 63 in double quick time, the likes of TJ Cloutier, Phil Ivey and Greg Raymer all falling by the wayside as Tom McEvoy, Eugene Todd and David Singer led the way for the pros.

The latter of those three achieved a quite incredible feat in that he cashed in two events in the same day, his credible 353rd place finish in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'Em Freezeout being swiftly followed by a second in-the-money finish here in the Pot Limit event. What's more, he's sitting pretty in third place with a quite magnificent 123,600.

However, the honour of top dog goes to Robert Workman whose meaty 146,800 stack means that he heads into Day 2 as the current chip leader. Thankfully (us updaters need our beauty sleep), play doesn't commence till 2pm, but be sure to join us when that starting whistle blows for what should be another day of fast paced, frantic action.

See you there!
