Frank Placania Doubles Through Donny Carlton

Donny Carlton, who finished Day 1 second in chips just took quite a hit.

Glen Bean raised to 4,000 from the cutoff, Phil Hellmuth folded the button, Donny Carlton moved all in for over 100,000 from the small blind, Frank Placanica called all in for 37,700 from the big blind and Bean got out of the way.

Placanica {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}

Carlton {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and Placanica doubled up.

Joseph Bagyansky Eliminated

With less than 3,000 chips and most of them committed in the big blind, Joseph Bagyansky called the all in raise of Gary Herstein. The players showed:

Bagyansky: {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs}
Herstein: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

Bagyansky's outlook for survival went from bad to worse when the flop fell {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades}. The turn and river came the {2-Diamonds} and {2-Clubs} respectively and Herstein's boat was more than enough to send Bagyansky home early.

Jeffrey Milkey Eliminated by Phil Hellmuth

Anthony Harb opened for a raise from the cutoff, Jeffrey Milkey moved all in for 16,000 from the button, Phil Hellmuth moved all in over the top from the big blind, and Harb folded.

Milkey {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts}

Hellmuth {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} {9-Clubs} and Hellmuth's hand held up to eliminate Milkey from the tournament.

Michael Sanderson Eliminated

Michael Sanderson moved all in from under the gun for his last 7,600. Jim Miller called from the cutoff seat. The players showed:

Sanderson: {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Miller: {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

The community cards hit both players as they came {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Sanderson made two pair but Miller's Broadway straight was the nuts. Sanderson was eliminated and Miller chips up to just over 39,000.

Sebastien Roy Eliminated

We can add Sebastien Roy's name to the list of early casualties. He made his exit holding {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} but ran into the {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} of Michael Banducci. The money went in before the flop and although both men hit an ace, Banducci's kicker played and Roy headed for the exit.

Mark Kelly Eliminated

On a flop of {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Diamonds} Mark Kelly moved all in for his remaining 7,900 and Brian Rissman looked him up.

Kelly {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Rissman {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs}

Rissman led with his pair of eights and another fell on the turn. The river was the {Q-Spades} and Kelly made his exit.

Denver Donaghe Eliminated

Denver Donaghe raised to 4,700 and Joel Nichols made the call. The flop was {5-Spades} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades}. Donaghe moved all in for 40,100 and Nichols called

Donaghe {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}

Nichols {A-Spades} {J-Spades}

Donaghe held the overpair but Nichols had overcards and the nut flush draw. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} but the river was the {4-Spades} making Nichols' flush and eliminating Donaghe.

Tom McLaughlin Eliminated

Tom McLaughlin was another early day 2 casualty. He made his stand with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} but came up short against the {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} of Travis Shatsky when the {A-Hearts} hit the flop. McLaughlin failed to improve and headed for the rail.
