Kalpakis Survives

Danny Kalpakis, short on chips, got his last 22,000 in on third street with split queens. He was up against Levon Torosyan's split aces. Torosyan never improved through the river, but Kalpakis pick up a third queen and a couple of jacks to make a full house. He now has about 50,000 chips.

Rocco Comes Out Swinging

The overnight chip leader, Michael Rocco, came out swinging today. He limped in with the {Q-Hearts}, then called when Jeffrey Siegal completed the {K-Hearts}. Siegal took the lead again on fourth when Rocco checked {Q-Hearts}{K-Clubs} to his {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}; Rocco called again. Both players checked fifth street; Rocco bet sixth street and was called by Siegal. On the river, the boards were:

Rocco: x-x / {Q-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {7-Diamonds} / x
Siegal: x-x / {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} / x

Both players checked, leading Rocco to announce, "Jacks," and open {J-?} {J-?} {4-?} in the hole. That was enough to take the pot.

Two Pair No Good

Michael Rocco brought it in with the {5-Clubs} up. Action folded around to Al Barbieri, and he raised it up with the {J-Hearts} in the door. Rocco makes the call.

Rocco: x-x / {5-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} / x
Barbieri: x-x / {J-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} / x

On fourth and fifth streets, Rocco bet out, and Barbieri called. Both men checked on sixth. On seventh, Rocco again bet out, getting a call. He announced, "Two pair," but held his cards for a moment. Barbieri turned over a better two pair, as he exposed {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts} for jacks up.

On the very next hand, Rocco again held two pair and ran into a higher two pair.

Torosyan and Troy Tangle Early

Levon Torosyan and Max Troy have been involved in two early pots, with each player winning one. Most recently, Troy completed the {8-Spades} and Torosyan, who brought it in with the {3-Spades}, was the only caller. Neither player's board developed all that threateningly, but there was a bet on every street. On the river, Torosyan bet x-x / {3-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} / x into Troy's x-x / {8-Spades} {10-Spades} {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} / x. Troy called, only to see Torosyan expose {A-?}{3-?}{Q-?} in the hole for trip threes.
