Rockets for Jacob

Alex Jacob led out preflop for 1,600 and was called by an opponent in the big blind. The flop ran {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} and both players checked. The turn brought the {3-Spades} and Jacob led out for 2,100. His opponent called and the {6-Hearts} fell on the river. Jacob moved all in and his opponent called, then mucked when Jacob turned over pocket aces.

After the hand, Alex is up to 29,000.

Garrick Lau Takes a Big Hit

Not long after winning a huge pot with pocket kings, Garrick Lau lost a big pot against pocket kings. A player shoved from late position and Lau called in the small blind with pocket tens. He couldn't run down the cowboys and he's down to 29,000.

That's Poker

The board reads {A-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}. All the chips are in the middle and the cards are flipped up. Player A has {A-Spades} {7-Spades}. Player B, {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}.

The turn is the {J-Spades}.

The river, the {7-Clubs}.

Just one more bad beat story in the big city.

Double Elimination for Lau

Garrick Lau was facing two all ins in front of him when he looked down to see two kings in the hole. Lau quickly called and was up against J-Q and K-Q. Lau spiked a king on the flop, then turned a full house.

After the hand, Lau is one of the chip leaders with 50,000.

Alex Jacob Makes the Call

With the board reading {J-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts}, Alex Jacob bet 1,600 and another player raised to 9,000. Two other players in the hand folded and Jacob was left to his decision. It took him some time but eventually he called, and was pleased to see that his {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} was ahead of his opponent's {A-Spades} {10-Spades}. The river brought the {6-Hearts} and Jacob doubled to 22,000.

Somewhat Pro-less Field?

If you haven't been able to tell by our chip count section, the amount of professional poker players in this event is on the low side. Currently, the Omaha H/L World Championship is just starting it's first day, and the Stud World Championship is on its final table, with Chris "Jesus" Ferguson in the chip lead.

And that's not to mention the PLO w/Rebuys also taking place.

Talk about a good day to be playing a $1,500 event!

Jason Potter Has Been Eliminated

If Jason Potter was able to laugh during his last hand maybe he found something humorous in his last hand of the day. Or, perhaps not--his {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} slammed headlong into pocket aces, he got no help from the board, and he was eliminated.

Sometimes You Gotta Laugh

Jason Potter moved all in for his last 9,000 on the button and the short-stacked player in the big blind called for his last 5,000. Potter's {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} trailed his opponent's {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}...and especially so when the flop came {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {A-Spades}. Potter erupted in laughter when he saw the flop and shipped all but 3,500 of his chips to his opponent.

Freddy Deeb Surges After Dinner

Freddy Deeb had about 5,000 before the dinner break. He doubled up just before then, doubled up again, then doubled up again when he made a call with A-K on a low-card board and had a player with A-Q dominated. He's now up to 40,000.
