The Oracle Out

In a hand involving Ted Forrest, Roy "the Oracle" Winston, and Jan Von Halle, Winston pushed all in preflop with his last 2,725 chips, Von Halle called, and Forrest folded.

The board ran out 4-3-4-K-K, Winston showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, and Von Halle showed A-A to knock out Winston. "Gah!" cried Forrest, when the hands were shown, seemingly indicating what might have been.

Schulman Taken Over

Nick "The Takeover" Schulman goes all in on a turn of {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Dario Minieri calls. Schulman has {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Minieri has {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The river is the {6-Clubs} and Schulman is down to 450 in chips and Frank Costello knocks him out in the next hand. Minieri has 37,000 in chips.

Traniello Alive

A severely short-stacked Marco Traniello found himself all in preflop against two opponents, including another short stack. The board ran out {10-Spades}{K-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Traniello showed two jacks, one of which was the {J-Spades}, and took the pot with his jack-high flush. The other short-stacked player was eliminated.

With about 25 minutes to go before the break, Traniello has 3,750 in chips.

Seidel Out

Down to 1,200 or so when the hand began, eight-time WSOP bracelet-winner Erik Seidel got all of his chips in preflop with {A-Spades}{10-Hearts} vs. his opponent's {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and Seidel hit the rail.

A Taste of Sowers

Mike Sowers raises in the hijack and the small blind reraises. Sowers three-bets it and the small blind is nearly all in, with 25 behind. The flop is {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and the small blind puts the last chip in. Sowers calls with A-8 and the opponent has a queen. The turn is the {7-Spades} and the river is no help, and Sowers busts his opponent, going up to 10,900 in chips.

Greenstein Down, then Out

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein
After the button limped and the SB completed, a short-stacked Barry Greenstein raised from the BB. Both opponents called.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The SB checked, Greenstein bet, the button folded, and the SB called. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, completing a possible flush. Again the SB check-called Greenstein. The river brought the {5-Hearts}, and once more the SB check-called.

The SB showed {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for two pair, while Greenstein showed {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for jack-high. Greenstein was down to just 75 chips.

Greenstein busted two hands later with the same hand that had crippled him before -- pocket nines. Having been called all-in by 4-5 offsuit, the board brought a four and five, and Greenstein was eliminated.
