Event 4 - $5,000 Mixed Hold'em (Limit/No Limit)

Day 1 Completed

Day 1 Official Chip Counts

91 players from an initial field of 332 have survived to tomorrow's Day 2 of Event #4, $5,000 Mixed Hold'em. Jon "PearlJammer" Turner finished the day as the only player to reach six figures in chips, at 100,200, narrowly ahead of Ariel Schneller at 99,500.

The complete chip counts for 90 of the 91 players are as follows, excepting one other player who still survives in the event but put neither his name nor chip total on the card supplied for tallying his bagged chips before departing for the night. If the unknown player's chip bag itself (which is currently secured in the cage along with the other chips bags from the event) also lacks identifying information, the player may have an interesting time as Day 2 begins in re-establishing ownership of the chips.

Day 1 is Over!

Day 1 of the $5,000 Mixed Hold'em Event #4 is at an end. The tight field of 332 players was absolutely loaded with big-name, focused professionals. Among the first to depart for future events were Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Vanessa Rousso, and Gabe "Mr. Kotter" Kaplan.

Sticking around for Day 2 action are some of the best players in the world, including Jon "PearlJammer" Turner with 87,000 in chips, Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo with 73,900, fellow Bodog-sponsored pro David Williams close behind with 67,000, and triple-crown (WSOP, WPT, EPT) winner Gavin Griffin with 65,800.

Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke, playing in his second major non-European event since turning 21 (Event #2 being the first), is doing just fine at 57,600.

Play resumes Tuesday at 3 p.m. Pacific time, at which point the remaining 91 will play down to a final table of nine. It's a good bet it won't take as long to get there as the marathon Event #2, currently in progress with many hours to go.

See you here at 3 pm for all the action!

Nenad Out

In the last hand of the night, Nenad Medic is all in with {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}, versus {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for David Williams. The flop is {K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Williams calls out for a ten, rooting for Medic. The turn is {5-Hearts}, and the river is {4-Diamonds} and Medic is out. "G***d***, one time," Williams says. "I was rooting for you."

Forrest Knocks Out Veldhuis

Ted Forrest
Ted Forrest
A middle-position player raised to 600, then Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis reraised to 6,800. Ted Forrest called from the cutoff. Jay Rosenkrantz debated before folding from the big blind, and the MP player folded as well. Veldhuis showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, and Forrest showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The board came {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and Veldhuis is out. Forrest is up to 59,000.
