lilholdem Up Then Out

Chad "lilholdem" Batista led out preflop for 1,500 and was called by a single opponent. On a flop of {J-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {10-Hearts} , Chad moved all in and his opponent folded. Chad shrugged, turned over {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, and then took a big swig on a Corona.

On the very next hand, Chad moved all in from the big blind after four players limped into the hand. All but one folded and Chad turned over {Q-Hearts} {8-Clubs} while his opponent showed {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. Chad hit a great turn card with the board at 3-9-10-J, but the river Q gave his opponent a higher straight and eliminated him from the event.

Amit Makhija's Running Good

Shortly after Eric "'Rizen" Lynch eliminated Vanessa Rousso he was himself knocked out by Amit Makhiia. After Lynch raised and Makhija called they saw an A-A-Q flop. As Lynch held QQ and Makhija A-K, you'll understand why the money was shortly in the middle. A five fell on the turn and on the river...a King, giving Makhija a bigger full house and the pot. "Rizen" was eliminated and Makhija now has 162,000.

Serious Situation

There's a serious situation occurring at the moment. A player in a cash game has collapsed and is lying on the floor. A player in today's event is a doctor and has left the table to try to assist him, and Terrance Chan is trying to get the floor to allow everyone at the table to give that player a walk in his big blind so he won't be penalized for leaving the table to provide medical assistance. We'll try to keep you posted.

Players Are Back

Play has resumed here at Event #5 with just two more levels to go before calling it a night. We're down to only 154 players at the start of this round, leaving us a little more than half way to go before hitting the money. Will it be hit before the conclusion of the tenth round tonight? Only time will tell!

On Break

We experienced some brief technical difficulties, but we're back and the players are out on break. Play will resume in 20 minutes.

Phil Hellmuth...Being Phil Hellmuth

A bit frustrated after losing a few pots Phil Hellmuth announced to the table, "That's it, I'm raising every pot, I'm here to gamble". Under the gun he raised to 2,000 and had one caller before another player (with about 10,000 in his stack) raised to 7,500. Hellmuth pushed, the original caller folded, and the player who raised and who'd already committed about 3/4 of his chips...folded.

Hellmuth showed the {Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs} and declaimed, "Who do you think you're playing? I can read them...I can read their souls. Not today baby, good luck bluffing me".

Toto Goes Home

Toto Leonidas moved all-in against a player who had made it 2,100 to go preflop. The player called and showed A-Q while Toto turned over A-J. Both players flopped an ace, however Toto's kicker wasn't good enough to keep him in the tournament.

Phil Ivey Doubles Up

And then some. Daniel Negreanu raised to 2,300 and Phil Ivey and Cody Slaubaugh called. The flop came {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} and all three players checked. The {A-Clubs} fell on the turn and when Ivey bet 7,500 Slaubaugh reraised. Negreanu folded, Ivey moved all in, and Slaubaugh called. Ivey had {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts} for middle pair and Slaubaugh had {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. He didn't catch a King on the turn or river and Ivey boosted his stack to 57,000.
