You Have No Chips, Captain!

"Captain" Tom Franklin was all in with {K-?} {8-?} and ran into an opponent's {A-?} {Q-?}. A queen on the flop put Franklin behind the eight ball. A king did not arrive for Franklin and his day is done. He will have a couple of days now to prepare before he boldy goes into the Main Event.

Seidel Back in Business

After being down to 600 a few hands ago, Seidel moved back up to 1,500. He just recently took another big pot to move even higher up.

Erik Seidel was betting the entire way in a three-way pot. The board read {Q-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and at the showdown, Seidel turned up {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for the best hand. He is now up to 4,700.

Time For a Strategy Change

A lot of tables are beginning to become four- and five-handed. As a result, players are beginning to loosen up their game. Players will start to raise and call with a wider range of hands than they would earlier, in an attempt to try to chip up and take down their table. Betting levels are still relatively small in relation to the amount of chips left, so this may still take a while.

Gavin Smith on a Rush

Gavin Smith took down two nice pots almost back-to-back. On the first hand, he was in the small blind and capped the betting with the big blind preflop. Each street was bet to the river and in the end, Smith showed pocket queens to take the pot.

A couple of hands later, three players, including Smith, saw a flop. Smith raised the turn with the board showing {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and was called by both opponents. The river fell the {A-Spades} and again Smith bet out and was called in both spots. Smith showed {10-Clubs} {J-Clubs} for the nut straight.

Next, Smith had another player all in. Smith held {A-?} {K-?} and his opponent held {A-?} {10-?}. Smith hit a king on the flop and in the end took down the pot.

After these three pots, Smith is up to around 9,300 in chips.

Four players remain at Smith's table.

Sklanky Out

David Sklansky moved all in and would be up against three opponents in the hand. He was short and held aces, but {6-?} {3-?} made a straight when the flop came down {7-?} {5-?} {4-?}.

The turn and river didn't help Sklansky and he is now out.

Shorr Looking Good

The button raised and Shannon Shorr called out of the big blind. The flop came down {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts} and Shorr check-called his opponent's bet.

The turn and river were the {A-Hearts} and the {2-Spades}. Shorr check-called on both of those streets as well and showed down {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} to win the hand. He's now up to 7,800.

Violette Sets Her Opponent Up

On a flop of {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, Cyndy Violette bet out and was called. When the turn card of the {7-Hearts} fell, Violette bet out and was raised. Violette made it three bets and her opponent called. On the river of the {8-Diamonds}, Violette bet again and her opponent called.

Violette showed {4-Hearts} {4-Spades} for a set of fours and her opponent mucked.

After the hand, Violette moved up to 10,500 in chips.
