No Dinner?

We're on a scheduled 20-minute break, not the dinner break that some of the players expected. We'll be playing another two levels and then depending on how many players are left, we'll review the dinner situation at that point...much to the disappointment of some hungry stomachs!

Sabel Scoops and Survives!

Craig Sabel raised it up preflop leaving only 10,000 behind and the action folded to James Pritchard who cut down his chips in the big blind before putting Sabel all in. He made the call and the cards were tabled.

Sabel: {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Pritchard: {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and after some confusion the pot was given to Sabel as he scoops to keep his head above water on about 130,000 chips.

Short Stacks Hanging Tough

The short-stacked players today have really been hanging on tooth and nail. In the last three hands, both Craig Sabel and Greg Jamison have been all in for their tournament lives. Sabel doubled up and Jamison split a nice three-way pot.

Normally at the levels that we are at now, short stacks would have difficulty surviving, but the cards have been hitting just perfect for all the short-stacked players.

Sabel Crippled

Craig Sabel opened with a raise from the hijack position and both Spencer Lawrence and Chris Falconer made the call.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and it was checked around.

The turn landed the {A-Spades} and Falconer checked from the small blind over to Sabel who fired a bet of 60,000. Lawrence deliberated from the cutoff before making the call as Falconer tossed his cards.

The river brought the {3-Spades} and Sabel made a quick check as Lawrence again slowly considered his move. He decided to fire another bet, and Sabel made the call.

Lawrence showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair, aces and jacks, as Sabel revealed {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a smaller two pair.

This pot left Sabel in bad shape with barely enough left to cover the blinds while Lawrence moves to around 650,000 to be close to our current chip leader.

Mark Wilds Eliminated in 8th Place ($30,700)

Mark Wilds - 8th Place
Mark Wilds - 8th Place
Mark Wilds had been whittled down and was all in for 10,000 in the small blind. Thang Luu called from the button and George Guzman checked his option from the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} and both players checked. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Guzman announced, "I have to bet!" before sliding 60,000 into the middle. Luu folded and the cards were revealed.

Wilds knew he was in trouble as he reluctantly flipped {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} as Guzman showed {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

The river landed the {A-Hearts} to give Guzman a full house and eliminate Mark Wilds in eighth place for $30,700 in prize money.
