Wild Hand Leaves Wilds in Trouble

With three limpers in the pot, Thang Luu decided that his option would be to raise from the big blind. All three opponents called and they saw a flop of {8-Spades}

.

Luu led out with a bet, Mark Wilds and George Guzman made the call, with James Pritchard folding from the small blind.

The turn brought the {4-Spades}

and Luu led out again with a bet, Wilds raised it up which forced Guzman out of the pot. Luu called.

The river landed the {2-Diamonds}

and Luu fired another bet and Wilds quickly called.

Luu said, "Three quarters..." as he flipped {A-Spades}

for the ace-high flush and nut low, as Wilds let out a cry of digust at being rivered for the low as he showed {A-Hearts}

.

Luu extends his lead to around 800,000 chips with Wilds now on the short stack with about 100,000 chips.

James Pritchard Nearly Doubles Up

James Pritchard made it two bets to go preflop and received a call from Craig Sabel. On both the flop of {3-Spades}

and the turn of {10-Spades}

, Pritchard bet and Sabel called. Pritchard put the last of his chips in the pot on the river of the {6-Hearts}

. Sabel made the quick call.

Pritchard turned over {A-Clubs}

for top two pair and a nut low. Sabel showed {A-Diamonds}

for the nut low only. Pritchard takes 3/4 of the pot and moved up to around 175,000 in chips.

At the first break of the day Thang Luu still held a commanding chip lead with around 635,000 chips. Craig Sabel had moved into second position after the monster pot that we reported earlier in the day.

Spencer Lawrence made it two bets to go preflop and James Pritchard called. Lawrence bet all streets and Pritchard called all the way to the river. With the board showing {2-Spades}

, Lawrence showed {A-Spades}

for both the nut flush and the wheel. Pritchard mucked his hand.

Scott Clements Eliminated in Ninth Place ($22,172)

Scott Clements waited patiently with his short stack and was able to chop a couple of pots before the blinds got to him again and took another chunk out of his stack.

He then finally found a spot to push the last of his 12,000 chips into the middle from middle position and the blinds called.

James Pritchard and Thang Luu checked down the action from the blinds on a board of {J-Clubs}

.

Pritchard showed {J-Spades}

for a full house, Luu mucked, and Clements commented "Man, I had aces, too," as he flashed the rockets before shaking the hands of his opponents and exiting the tournament floor.

Clements misses out on a third bracelet but adds $22,172 to his career winnings for his ninth-place finish.

A Little Slow Going

Other than a couple of large pots, so far in this Omaha Hi-Lo table the action has been somewhat slow. As is the norm for this game, there have been a lot of split pots. In most cases, the pots have been heads up. With the current pace that the blinds are rising, there should be some big action coming up soon.

Josh Arieh is currently standing here sweating the Omaha Hi-Lo final table. Arieh has two bracelets, with one in Pot-Limit Omaha. Apparantly, he is in another event but wanted to stop by and check out the action. Why not? This is a great game!
