Patience Rewarded

Eric Bremond had been playing fairly tightly for most of the day. Finally, the time had come to act.

A middle-position player raised to 3,200, then Bremond reraised to 12,000 from late position. It folded around to Eric Crain in the big blind, who had a whopping 350,000-plus chip stack. Crain bumped it up to 45,000. The middle-position player folded, and Bremond instantly pushed all in for an addition 68,000.

"Holy cow! Oops!" said Crain. But he called nonetheless.

Crain {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Bremond {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The community cards were dealt -- {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Hearts} -- and Bremond had doubled up to 220,000. Crain tumbles back down to 225,000.
