Begging the Question

Had an interesting blind-vs.-blind confrontation between Matt Matros and David Saab take place at the end of the previous level. Some preflop jousting meant there was already 130,000 in the pot when the flop came {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Matros bet 85,000, and Saab called. The turn was the {6-Spades}, and this time Matros bet 175,000. Saab again called.

The river was the {6-Hearts}. Both players checked. "Ace-king?" asked Matros before turning over his hand -- {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Saab, apparently thinking Matros was declaring his hand rather than asking about Saab's, was slow to turn over his cards. Finally he saw Matros' treys and turned over his {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

There was a bit of discussion afterwards, as it might've appeared Saab had slowrolled. Saab explained he didn't even realize he had the pair, as he was focused on the flush draw. In any event, Saab took the hand and now has nearly 1.8 million. Matros has 830,000.
