Lamb to the Slaughter

Looks as though we have a new chip leader.

A player in mid position raised, and Olav von Sachsen reraised. The original raiser decided it was a bad idea and folded, but von Sachsen went all in. A swift call from Lamb, a horrible outdraw, and while Lamb is down to mere shrapnel, von Sachsen is up to 385,000 and is very happy indeed.

Board: {J-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

Hit the Jaka-Pot

Faraz Jaka wasn't messing about with his {7-Clubs} {7-Spades} -- he stuck all his chips in under the gun, and it folded right around to the big blind who made the call with {K-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

Board: {8-Spades} {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs}

Thus the big blind is down to 70,000, while Jaka is up to 70,000. All very friendly.

Hellmuth Is Here to Win

Phil Hellmuth means business: a player raised, but passed when Hellmuth went over the top.

"I'm here to win world championships, not play games," he announced, "That's why I came." And in case it wasn't clear, "I came to win."

Someone else at the table piped up, but Hellmuth quickly told him, "If you want to learn, read one of my books, son."

The next hand, the same player who had raised and then folded to Hellmuth's reraise limped in. Hellmuth raised to 12,000, and the player called. They both checked the {Q-Spades} {7-Spades} {3-Hearts} flop, and then the other player check-called a 9,000 bet from Hellmuth on the {5-Spades} turn. They checked the {K-Diamonds} on the river, and Hellmuth turned over {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} to win the pot while his hapless opponent mucked. Hellmuth is now up to 155,000.

Franklin, My Dear, I Don't Have Any Chips

Three players liked the {7-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} flop enough to stick their chips in the middle in a three-way all-in confrontation.

Live Poker Is Rigged

A very fortunate double up for Howie Widman, in one of those great runner-runner hands that online players don't think happen in live poker.

Widman got it in with {A-?} {10-?} preflop, thoroughly dominated by Trevor Hackworth's {A-?} {J-?}.

Widman doubled to 75,000 or so, while a giggling Hackworth apologized to the table and told them, "Man! I'm tilting so hard right now!"

Whether players dined at the Poker Kitchen or, like some of the luckier bloggers, managed to make it over to the Rio for prime rib, cards are back in the air and the carnage continues.
