Schocking

Mitch Schock and Nick Frangos tangled in a recent pot. Schock bet fourth street showing x-x / {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts} against Frangos' x-x / {k-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Frangos paired sevens on fifth and bet them; Schock also drew a seven and called.

On sixth street, it was Schock making a pair of kings against an ace for Frangos. Both players checked. On the river Schock bet and induced a quick fold from Frangos. He showed {K-Spades} {8-Clubs} {9-Spades} anyway.

Schock is up to 85,500. Frangos is down to 33,500.

Double Elimination

Two players are out on the same hand, courtesy of Eric Pardey. We caught the action on sixth street, where Eric Friedman was already all in with {J-Hearts} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} {4-Hearts} on his board. Pardey was showing {6-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs} and bet. David Bach called all in as well, showing {Q-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. Pardey already had a club flush with {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs}; Bach showed two pair, {Q-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} in the hole for queens and sevens. He needed to fill up on the river, but couldn't do it.

Friedman mucked his hand, shipping the whole pot to Pardey.

More Chips for Reslock

Chris Reslock is still fighting. He's at 33,000 after a recent encounter with Helmut Koch. Each player started with a king, but it was Reslock's bet on the river that elicited a fold from Koch. Reslock opened three aces in the hole.

Recent Eliminations

Sam Grizzle is out. He started with {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {j-Hearts}, improved to a pair of sevens on fourth street, but never got better than that. Grizzle lost to Edouard Mignot, who made two pairs, sixes and fours. All of the chips were in on fourth street.

Jim Paluszek, Ben Akiva and Bob Rose are also out. Due to trying to troubleshoot the internet issues, no details are available.

Craig Kaufman Eliminated on Bubble

When hand-for-hand started, Craig Kaufman had 1500 chips. He lasted exactly five hands (300 ante each time). On the fifth hand, Kaufman was all in with {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} / {K-Clubs}. Gary Benson and Eric Friedman also came along. It was Friedman who took the pot by making a seven-high straight by fifth street. Kaufman only mustered a pair of deuces, which wouldn't even have been good against Benson's queens.

There was some scattered applause when the TD announced that the remaining players are in the money.

A Streak Broken

One of the remaining women in the field is Barbara Enright. Enright has played the ladies event every year for the last 23 years. She missed the event this year (it started earlier today) because of the fact that she is still alive in this tournament.

Hand-For-Hand Begins

Eric Afriat and John Hong are the latest two players to be eliminated from this tournament. With their eliminations, the tournament is in hand-for-hand mode. One more elimination is necessary before the remaining players will be in the money.
