Tony G Doubles through Chris Moneymaker

Can't win a race...
Can't win a race...
Tony G opened from late position and Chris Moneymaker moved all in behind him.

"Here, take them!" said Tony as he flung a call into the pot and turned up {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}. Moneymaker revealed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}.

The flop looked good for Moneymaker, coming down {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} but the {K-Clubs} spiked on the turn, giving the overwhelming lead to Tony G. The river was the {J-Diamonds} and the G raked in the pot.

"Yeah baby. Feel the powah!" he quipped.

"You are blessed," replied Moneymaker as he departed the table to take a tilt-walk.

Tony G is now up to 830,000 while Moneymaker is down to 230,000.

A Change in the Action as the Bubble Looms

As players get closer and closer to the bubble, there is a lot of three betting preflop to take down pots. Dani Stern recently did it to David Chiu as did Alan Sass to Sami Kelopuro.

In addition, the amount of flops seen by players has lessened, along with much less post-flop action.

Run, Forrest, Run!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ted Forrest just power-walked back into the Amazon Room and rejoined his table in the $40K no-limit.

"Are we in the money yet?" he asked as he took his seat.

Apparently, Forrest turned the ringer on his phone off and took a nap in his room at the Rio during dinner break and simply overslept.

"I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow" he said with a sheepish grin.

Moore No More, Lehr Jets Ahead

Keith Lehr Looking Good
Keith Lehr Looking Good
Chris Moore and Keith Lehr each had a little over 500,000 when the following hand took place.

Action folded to Moore who raised to 41,000 on the button, then Lehr raised to 124,000 from the big blind. Moore made the call. The flop came {2-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Lehr bet 88,000, and Moore called. The turn was the {7-Spades}, and Lehr announced he was all in. Moore thought a short while, then made the call.

Lehr turned over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, while Moore had {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for just a pair of tens. The river was the {9-Diamonds}, and Lehr claimed the huge pot. Moore, meanwhile, had fallen to 20,000, and on the next hand was eliminated in 40th place.

"You must look really stupid," said Matt Glantz to Lehr afterwards. Looks pretty good at the moment, too, with that stack of 1.08 million in front of him.

Zolotow Zooms Up the Leaderboard

Steve Zolotow pushed all in from middle position for 380,000, and Alec Torelli called behind him. Zolotow tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, while Torelli turned over {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

The flop of {A-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Spades} brought Zolotow two pair, but also a flush draw for Torelli. But the turn and river were safely red -- {3-Diamonds},{6-Diamonds} -- and Zolotow now has 845,000. Torelli is down to 375,000.

Dickstein Downed, Forty Remain

Mark Dickstein
Mark Dickstein
Brian Townsend opened for 30,000 from middle position, then Mark Dickstein reraised to 100,000 behind him. It folded to Matthew Marafioti on the button who promptly repopped it to 200,000. Townsend folded, Dickstein made the call.

Dickstein showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Marafioti {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The flop came {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and Dickstein was quickly in desperate shape. The turn was the {J-Hearts} and the river the {4-Clubs}. Dickstein is out, and Marafioti now has 1.08 million.

We're down to forty players.

Mizzi Takes a Chunk Out of Kassela

Sorel Mizzi opened for 28,000 from middle position, Frank Kassela flat-called from late position and Dani "Ansky" Stern called from the small blind.

The flop came down {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}. Stern checked, Mizzi bet 66,000, Kassela raised to 175,000, Stern folded, and Mizzi moved all in for an additional 194,000. Kassela made the call.

Mizzi {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Kassela {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts}

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, the river was the {10-Spades} and Mizzi took down the pot with a full house. He's currently up to 840,000 while Kassela slipped to 270,000.

Good, Though Still Not Top Forty Good

Kirill Gerasimov was sitting in 41st of 41 remaining players just now when he doubled up after picking up pocket aces and getting Keith Lehr to come along with his {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

The board came {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and Gerasimov now has 175,000. Still 41st of 41, but with a few more chips with which to work.

Lehr now has 570,000.
