Ivey's Super-Stack

Phil Ivey now has more than 50% of chips in play
Phil Ivey now has more than 50% of chips in play
Dutch Boyd raised preflop from the button and Phil Ivey defended his big blind. They checked a flop of {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} before a repeat {K-Spades} hit the turn.

Ivey fired out a bet and Boyd made the call. The river was the {9-Hearts} and again Ivey bet with Boyd calling.

Ivey tabled {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and the jacks were good as Boyd sighed and mucked. Boyd is now one mistake from elimination with Ivey up to a staggering 1.48 million - in excess of 50% of the chips in play.

Ivey Pounds Mortensen

Carlos Mortensen completed before Phil Ivey raised. Mortensen called and then again on fourth street. On fifth street Ivey led but Mortensen raised. Ivey called and then led on sixth and the river before Mortensen finally gave up the chase and folded.

Mortensen: (X-X-X) {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}
Ivey: (X-X-X) {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

Ivey is now out to 1.25 million with Mortensen down to 450,000 chips.

Jon Turner Eliminated in 5th Place ($45,237)

Jon Turner - 5th Place
Jon Turner - 5th Place
Jon Turner was short stacked and all in on the turn against Dutch Boyd in a hand of Omaha-8.

The board read {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Spades} as Turner moved his last 17,000 into the pot, in the dark, and Boyd made the call.

Turner: {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Boyd: {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Boyd held the lead and maintained it to scoop when the river was dealt the {6-Spades}. Turner busts in 5th place after a great tournament. He'll collect $45,327 for his efforts.

Boyd Rivers Chop

Dutch Boyd
Dutch Boyd
Dutch Boyd, from the small blind, and Carlos Mortensen in the big blind got into a preflop raising war that saw the action capped.

They took a flop of {K-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} and after a bet, raise and reraise, Boyd was all in for his last chips.

Boyd: {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Mortensen: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Mortensen had a near lock on the high, and needed to fade Boyd's outs for the low. The turn bricked the {10-Clubs}, however the river was the {7-Diamonds}, giving Boyd the nut low much to his relief as he collects half and stays alive!

Turner Survives...Just!

Jon Turner was all in on fifth street in a Stud-8 hand against Carlos Mortensen. The boards fell:

Turner: ({A-Spades}{2-Clubs}) {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} ({6-Diamonds})
Mortensen: ({5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}) {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} ({7-Spades})

Mortensen makes a big hand with a seven-high straight and seven-six-five low but Turner sneaks in for half with a seven-six-four low to stay alive!

More Chips For Ming

Phil Ivey raised the button before Ming Lee popped it from the small blind. Ivey called and they saw a heads-up flop of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Lee led out, Ivey raised and Lee made the call.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and Lee fired again at the pot. Ivey just flat called and both players checked the {J-Diamonds} river.

Lee tabled {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} which was good to collect the pot. Lee climbs to 910,000.

Another Mil For Ivey

Phil Ivey now has a commanding chip lead and one eye on the WSOP bracelet after scooping yet another pot.

In Omaha-8, Ivey showed down {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades} for two pair and the best low on a {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs} board, to leave Jon Turner in a world of hurt.

Next hand Ivey forced a fold from Carlos Mortensen on the river on a {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{J-Spades} board, to be the first to crack the one million chip mark!

Boyd: (X-X-X) {J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Clubs}
Lee: ({2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}) {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Spades}
