Gavin Smith Eliminated in 23rd Place ($6,434)

Smith: not high enough or low enough
Smith: not high enough or low enough
Having survived one previous Stud all-in chop, Gavin Smith got involved in a large pot with Jon Turner and Matt Kelly. By the time they hit fifth street, their hands looked like:

Smith: [XX] {2-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs}
Turner: [XX] {4-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}
Kelly: [XX] {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

At this point Smith raised Turner's bet, and both players called. Turner bet his sixth street {4-Hearts} and Smith moved in having been dealt a {7-Clubs} . Kelly came along for the ride having picked up the {7-Spades} .

On the final street, Turner bet into the side pot, and Kelly reluctantly called saying, "I have no high, but a seven low," and showing {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} . Turner had a third four down and Smith said, "Well, you guys are just going to have to chop this pot," getting up from his seat with good grace.

Dodgy River for Kelly; Still Finds a Split

One bet per street between Blair Rodman and button Matt Kelly saw a decent pot grow around a board of {4-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {2-Spades} . When the deuce hit on the river, Rodman bet out and Kelly was not best pleased. "That really hurts me..." he said, staring at the little card which sure enough had binked the low for Rodman.

But Kelly's aces played for the high: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} vs. Rodman's {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} . Final chop of that seating order, as it turns out.

Bo Toft Eliminated in 25th

We hear that Bo is short for Robert. And short he was - his elimination just now means that we're down to three tables and I have a feeling that means it's redraw time. New chips and seating coming shortly.

Play Resumes

The players are back and the cards are in the air once again. We're playing this evening until we reach a final table of eight players, or 3am, whichever comes first. The way players have been dropping you'd tend to favor the final table being reached first, but expect play to slow up as we get closer to the business end of the evening.
