Grinding Out a Chop

We caught up with the action on the turn for this hand. The board read {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {2-Hearts} between Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and two other opponents. Both players checked to Mizrachi and he fired a bet. The first player raised and the second folded. Mizrachi made the call.

After the river fell the {K-Hearts}, both players checked. Mizrachi showed {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Spades} {3-Spades} for the nut low. His opponent held {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts} for trip sevens and the best high hand. The two players split the pot with MIzrachi having 5,400 chips after the hand.

Annie Duke Keeps on Fundraising

We stopped by Annie Duke's table a few minutes ago and asked her about her Sucking Out on the Rivers charity tournament held a couple of nights ago.

Annie said the event was a great success and that she's managed to raise an additional $1,600 for Refugees International while playing in today's tourney. "Every time someone comes up to me and says sorry I couldn't make your event, I say that's all right, just give me $200," Annie said.

Everyone except Phil Hellmuth, that is. Annie charged him $400.

Ted Lawson Increases

An early-position player limped and then the next player raised. Ted Lawson called from the button as did both blinds. The first limper called as well and all five players took a flop together.

The flop came {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {5-Spades}. Action checked to the preflop raiser and he bet. Lawson raised and the three players that had checked all folded. The original bettor called.

The turn brought the {J-Clubs} and the first player bet. Lawson raised and then the player folded. Lawson showed {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} after his opponent folded and is now up to 22,000.

Lindgren Has His Hand in a Big Pot

Erick Lindgren was involved in one of the most complicated hands we've seen yet today.

After the action got capped five ways preflop, the table saw a flop of {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Action checked to the cutoff, who bet and Lindgren raised from the button. Everyone called and the cutoff raised all in. Everyone called again.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and more betting. One player folded before the river, which brought the {3-Clubs}. Action folded to Lindgren who bet, and the remaining players called.

When hands were turned over, Lindgren showed {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Spades} for the nut low, which gave him half of the side pot and a quarter of the main. The hand brought his chip count to more than 14,500.

Barry Greenstein Eliminated

A few hands after getting crippled, Barry Greenstein raised to 800 from under the gun and got called in two places. Barry put his last 300 in the middle on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} and again got two callers.

The two remaining players checked the {A-Spades} on the turn and the {Q-Diamonds} on the river before everyone tabled their hands and Barry saw the sad news. He lost the high to two pair and the low to a 6-high.
