Micon's Good Call

Bryan Micon
Bryan Micon
Stud Hi/Lo:

Micon: x-x / {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} / x
Marmorstein: x-x / {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {A-Spades} {7-Spades} / x

Bryan Micon tanked for a minute in the face of Phillip Marmorstein's river bet. Marmorstein had called a completion on third, check-called a bet on fourth, check-checked fifth and then led out sixth and seventh streets.

In the face of Marmorstein's board, it seemed clear that Micon ad made two small pair with no low and wasn't sure whether he should call into what could be aces up. He finally did make the call, opening {A-?} {4-?} {5-?} in the hole for two pair, fives and fours, with no low. Marmorstein acknowledged that he only had aces with no low. The pot went to Micon.

From Looking for a Straight Flush to Trips

Stud:

Farzad "Freddie" Rouhani called a bet from Fabrice Soulier on fourth street, but then after he picked up a pair of fours on fifth, fired fifth, sixth, and seventh. He was called on fifth and sixth as the board looked as follows:

Rouhani: (X-X) {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs} (X)
Soulier: (X-X) {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} (X)

After Rouhani bet on seventh, Soulier elected to fold. Rouhani showed what he started with and it was the {5-Clubs} and {4-Clubs} for three to the straight flush.

Marmorstein Misses a Bet

Razz:

Evans: x-x / A-5-A-10 / x
Marmorstein: x-x / 7-2-7-Q / x

Paul Evans led the betting the whole way against Phillip Marmorstein. He bet fourth street and was called; both players checked fifth street. Evans fired again on sixth street and one last time on the river.

Down the river, Marmorstein squeezed his cards and then called. Evans knew he was beat when he opened 8-9-9 in the hole for 10-9-8-5-A; Marmorstein showed down 6-5-3 for 7-6-5-3-2. He may not have gotten a call from Evans with a raise, but we were very surprised to see him just call behind in that spot.

Regardless, Marmorstein dragged the pot.

Evans Doubles Up

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Mitch Schock bet the flop of {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and Paul Evans called. The turn was the {A-Spades} and Schock bet again. Evans hemmed and hawed, but eventually stuck in the chips to commit himself all in. He held {8-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades} and Evans held {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}.

The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Evans was able to scoop the pot with a pair of eights and a live three for the low.

Rouhani Muttering to Himself

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Farzad Rouhani limped in from early position and was the only caller of a raise by Shannon Shorr. Rouhani check-called a flop of {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} ahd check-called again when the turn fell {7-Diamonds}.

On the river {Q-Diamonds} Rouhani checked a third time. This time when Shorr bet, Rouhani gave the matter some long thought. He finally called, then angrily flipped his cards into the muck when Shorr showed {A-?} {K-?} {7-?} {3-?} for trip sevens.

Break Time

Players are now on the first scheduled break of the day. Since we had an extended break at the two-table redraw, this will just be a ten-minute break.

Dustin Bryan Crippled, Then Eliminated in 15th Place ($7,903)

Dustin Bryan - 15th Place
Dustin Bryan - 15th Place
Hold'em:

Dustin Bryan raised and then Shannon Shorr reraised. Bryan made the call. On the flop of {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, Bryan check-called a bet from Shorr. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Bryan emphatically grabbed a stack of chips and bet out. Shorr raised and Bryan called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Bryan check-called another bet from Shorr, leaving himself with 4,000 chips left. Shorr showed {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} and Bryan showed two jacks.

On the next hand, Bryan put the rest of his chips in after Ron "Schifty" Schiffman opened with a raise. James Van Alstyne and Farzad Rouhani were also in the hand.

The board ran out {K-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Spades} with everyone checking down to the river. On the river, Schiffman bet and Van Alstyne and Rouhani both folded. Schiffman showed pocket nines and then Bryan mucked, wished the table good luck, and made his exit.
