Day 2 Suspended

It's become a recurring theme here at the 2009 World Series of Poker -- Day 2s of tournaments that don't make it to playing down all the way to the scheduled final table. Such is the case here tonight in Event 31, $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.

We knew we were in for a challenge when 221 players returned at 2pm to start the day. Eric Kurtzman was leading them all with 57,000 chips, with Andy Black close behind in second place. Neither player made it to the final three tables returning tomorrow.

At the end of the night, Fabrice Soulier and Brian Malcolm were competing for the chip lead, each with about a quarter million in chips. Also still alive: Shannon Shorr, Vanessa Rousso, Paul Darden, and Bryan Micon and 17 other players, each dreaming about mounting the podium in two days time to claim a gold bracelet.

The suspension in play means our Day 3 restart will be pushed up one hour. We'll see you back at the Rio at 1pm tomorrow for a very, very long Day 3.
