Making Your Own Luck

You hear a lot of bad beat stories about players who always lose flips (lost one for a Main Event seat last night BTW!) and sixty-forties, etc. They're always bemoaning their luck, but the problem is that a lot of them play too tight and get too low, so they have to take on these situations to stay alive.

Bryan Paris is not one of these players. Sitting with {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs}, a hand that a lot of players would fold to a raise and three-bet. Paris decided to four-bet out of the blinds after witnessing the action in front of him. It worked against the initial raiser, but the second player moved all in with {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. Paris was committed and called all in.

Sometimes the willingness to 'play poker' brings in a certain amount of luck and this time it brought a {8-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs} flop for a straight flush for Paris. He's up to 19,000 as a result of his stroke of good fortune.
