Another Double for Scholl

Eric Baldwin opened with raise to 130,000 from the small blind, and Benjamin Scholl reraised all in from the big blind for approximately 300,000. Baldwin made the call.

Baldwin showed {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Scholl {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}. The board came {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{A-Spades}, and Scholl doubled up again. He's at around 600,000 now. Baldwin has about 850,000.

One Orbit, No Flops

We've just seen seven hands with no flops. For the curious:

First, Jonas Klausen raised to 95,000 from late position, and all folded. Then Steven Bradbury raised to 125,000 from early position, winning the blinds and antes.

On next one, Andrew Youngblood raised to 95,000 from middle position, and Eric Baldwin reraised to 315,000. It folded back to Youngblood who folded, and Baldwin took the pot.

Next, James Taylor opened with a raise to 100,000, winning the blinds and antes. Klausen got a walk in the big blind. Then, Roland de Wolfe opened by pushing all in from the button, and the blinds folded.

Finally, Klausen limped in from the button, and Youngblood completed from the small blind. Then Taylor raised to 205,000 from the big blind. Both his opponents folded.

(Only Benjamin Scholl, currently the short stack, was not active during the round.)

Martin Jacobson Eliminated in 8th Place ($65,487)

Martin Jacobson - 8th Place
Martin Jacobson - 8th Place
In early position, Martin Jacobson moved his short stack of 125,000 all-in. Two seats over, Eric Baldwin reraised to 295,000, isolating himself against the at-risk Jacobson. Roland de Wolfe thought long and hard before releasing his hand into the muck (eventually saying he folded two eights).

Showdown
Jacobson: {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades}
Baldwin: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

The board ran out dry for Jacobson, coming {10-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} {J-Hearts}. Failing to improve, Martin Jacobson has been sent off in 8th place. For his work over the last three days, he'll walk away with more than $65,000.

Scholl Survives

Eric Baldwin raised to 105,000 from the cutoff, and Benjamin Scholl moved all in with his last 150,000 from the button. It folded back to Baldwin who made the call, turning over {K-Spades}{7-Hearts} to Scholl's {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The board came {8-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and Scholl doubled up. He has about 350,000, while Baldwin is at 1.18 million.

Youngblood Hooks Jacobson

Andrew Youngblood looking much more relaxed now
Andrew Youngblood looking much more relaxed now
From the cutoff seat, Andrew Youngblood opened the pot with an all-in raise to 375,000. Right behind him, Martin Jacobson didn't waste any time moving all in himself, having Youngblood covered. Both blinds ducked out of the way.

Showdown
Youngblood: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Jacobson: {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

Youngblood stood to await his fate as the dealer spread the flop of {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. Jacobson paired up, but it was his low card to keep Youngblood in the lead.

The dramatic turn card came the {J-Diamonds} to give the at-risk player top set, but giving Jacobson flush outs for the win. Youngblood walked away from the table now to join his group of cheerleaders on the rail. "Don't worry, don't worry," one of them said. "I folded diamonds." That eased the tension just a bit for Youngblood, but he was still visibly nervous with one card to come. The rest of the crowd came to life with screams and cheers as the dealer ran the final card: {10-Spades}. Dodging the river diamond, Andrew Youngblood has notched a big double up and then some. He sits now with an even 850,000, dropping Jacobson all the way back around 200,000.

De Wolfe Not Out of Woods Yet

Eric Baldwin raised to 105,000 from the hijack seat, and Roland de Wolfe moved all in for a total of 395,000 from the small blind. Jonas Klausen folded from the big blind, and the action was back on Baldwin.

Baldwin riffled his chips and smiled, then gave it up. De Wolfe gets back to half a million -- no longer the short stack (that's Benjamin Scholl at the moment), but still needing to accumulate chips. Meanwhile Baldwin still has a healthy 1.7 million.

Taylor Wins a Big One

James Taylor opened with a raise to 100,000 from middle position. The action came around to Benjamin Scholl on the button, and he asked for a count on Taylor's remaining stack. Taylor had 480,000 chips behind the raise, and Scholl decided on a reraise to 300,000 straight. After a slight pause, Taylor moved all in for those 580,000 chips, and Scholl made the call.

Showdown
Taylor: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Scholl: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

There was some chatter around the table as the players were thinking back to the series of two-outers that were hitting hard earlier in the day. There would be none of that nonsense this time though as the board ran {Q-Spades} {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts}. With his kings holding, James Taylor has earned a big double up to 1,200,000. That leaves Scholl with the short stack of 328,000.
