Would You Lay This Down?

This hand went down just before the break...

A player UTG makes it 700, gets a caller from Nick Binger on the button before the small blind three bets to 2,000. UTG calls but Binger folds.

The flop came {Q-Hearts} {2-Spades} {5-Clubs} before SB moved all-in for just over 2,500. UTG dwells for a good two minutes before folding pocket kings face-up!

Variance...

Jesse Rios may have been the early chip leader but now he's back to Earth with a bump. First losing a big pot on a {4-?} {3-?} X board with {3-?} {3-?} to {4-?} {4-?} and then he lost {Q-?} {Q-?} to {A-?} {K-?}.

Clearly he had overdrawn on his flip tokens early on with the consistent Aces-cracking and this was poker gods' way of restoring the balance.

Rios has been left with 7,500.

Can't Choose When to Use Your Luck

You only hit a set roughly one in seven times. It's pretty bad to find yourself up against an over pair to yours. It's a really frustrating when you lose up some of your luck hitting your set only for your opponent to hit a set too. You may as well not hit you set and save the luck for another time.

Nick Binger got it all in preflop with pocket threes and was isolated by his neighbor with pocket kings. A sweet looking three appeared on the flop but so did a nasty looking king. One Binger down.

Markholted

Lee Markholt has busted just now. The cards he chose to go with were {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. He got action from two players with {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades} and {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. A lot of help was needed for him to triple up but the board ran {5-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {A-Clubs}.

The Only Way Is Up For Somerville

Jason 'JCarver' Somerville has just doubled to over 6,000.

There was a raise to 525 and a call, Somerville squeezed behind and the initial raiser folded but the caller decided to give him a spin with {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, Somerville flipped {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} which held on a {K-Clubs} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} board.
